Iris in Bloom

Iris5 According to the folks at Presby Iris Gardens, the official 2005 tall-bearded iris Bloom Season is May 14 - June 5. They don't guarantee that irises are blooming every day during that time period and add that the peak bloom time is "historically" the last week of May. That being said, Scot Surbeck captured this beautiful specimen already, so you may want to ride over and take a peak now and revisit during the month. Enjoy!

Presby also offers tours of the house and grounds for a nominal fee. With the tour, you get a slide presentation detailing the history of the property and iris information. This is also their major fundraiser, they take orders for rhizomes when they split theirs at the end of the season.

I have to take a look-see at these gardens, especially since my good friend "L" has started working there, and she's got the greenest of thumbs!
