You’ve heard the one about the Jesus statue in Hoboken that opened one of its eyes? Well, we got miracles too. Really.

i don’t mean to be hateful but there is something about this blurb that bothers me. i’m all for being a cynic etc., but religious faith is what it is and something about the vibe of this bothers me. anyway, thought i’d put my two bits in.

What would Jesus say to people who worship statues, smeared windows, tree stumps, and potato chips? I think he’d tell them to keep their eyes on the prize.

    John 10:37-38
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.

The Gang of Three who haunt (and hurt) Baristanet go elsewhere or become cordial and pleasant.

Who are the “Gang of Three?”

    Keener or meaner?

What ever happened to “thou shall not make any graven image” (unless its on tablets in front of a courthouse or a statue in Hoboken or a piece of toast)?

  9. POSTED BY cathar  |  July 31, 2005 @ 8:23 pm

“Meaner” is sometimes by way of necessity. And which “gang” would you like to belong to, Martin? (And that couldn’t be pseudonym, now could it?)A bland, socially anhd politically reassuring one?

Speaking of the Gang of Three!

  11. POSTED BY cathar  |  August 01, 2005 @ 8:01 am

And what gang might you be in, “gonzo journalist?” The posting of idiotic non-sequiturs gang? The very nerve of terming yourself either “gonzo” or a “journalist” without accompanying proof makes for a sorry case indeed, lad.

I would hope if any miracles were made, it would be something better than an eye opening on a statue.

  14. POSTED BY walleroo  |  August 01, 2005 @ 9:37 am

There must be some scientific explanation for this, probably having to do with aliens from outspace.

  15. POSTED BY walleroo  |  August 01, 2005 @ 9:38 am

    sorry, outer space.

Tolerance and respect for the mystical beliefs of others must be a miracle in itself.
Miracles are in the eyes of the beholder.
(as, no doubt, are cordiality and pleasantness)
    (not to mention, fopish whining)

Making fun of Martin’s name? What are we, in middle school?

  18. POSTED BY butchcjg  |  August 01, 2005 @ 10:27 am

Gang of Three? Cute! How about Trio of Trolls!

  19. POSTED BY Right of Center&#153  |  August 01, 2005 @ 10:30 am

    Who is #3?

  20. POSTED BY walleroo  |  August 01, 2005 @ 10:39 am

Wait a second. Sorry to be so dense, but I don’t understand. Who’s making fun of Martin’s name? And who’s the Gang of Three? (If it’s going to be Trio of Trolls, can I be one? Please, pretty please?)

  21. POSTED BY cathar  |  August 01, 2005 @ 4:44 pm

And which gang would you like to be in, butch? It just seems that you have your own nose pressed desperately against ye olde toffee shop’s window day after day, no matter your recent spate of protestations that you remain above this fray.
No one, I think, was “making fun” of Martin’s name. More in the vein of suggesting it was a beard for someone else’s.
And walleroo, no, you cannot be a troll. A scourge, yes (especially based on some of your recent postings), however, that is very much open for you.

    > Who is #3?
The person who comes after #2 and before #4.

  23. POSTED BY latebloomer  |  August 01, 2005 @ 8:17 pm

“Martin” is NOT a pseudonym. And that’s all I’m saying, so don’t even ask!
    Nah-nah nah nah-nah!

If I’d wanted that badly to “hear” “Kiss Him Goodbye,” Your Lateness, I’d simply wait for this year’s Devils season.
Also, all this “I know a secret” yammering is annoying. Last week ROC, this week Her Lateness. Why don’t all you “guys” just go join the Masons or something, then you can add a sedret handshake to your arcana?

I was thinking of adding to my earlier post, but all anyone has to do is read through this thread and everything I was saying will be painfully clear.

I must be as dense as you, Walleroo. I have read and re read this thread and have no clue…

When I was a teenager back in the dark ages I thought the most romantic songs were "Don't Worry, Baby" and "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. But my romantic life back then was more in tune with "Love Stinks" by the J. Geils Band.
