Oh, Tom, Tom, Tom

Saturday, August 27, 2005

Tomcruisedorothy_2 First of all, let it be stated right up front: the Barista has nothing against little boys in drag. Especially young actors-to-be. That said, it's always open season on Glen Ridge alum Tom Cruise, whose heart-thumpin' couch-jumpin' engagement to Katie Holmes has unleashed years of rumors that he really swings the other way, and that his sexy sweeties are mere beards.

Earlier this week, the Brit tabloid The Sun published pictures of young Tom dressed up as Dorothy for Halloween, and the pix found their way onto the net, howls of laughter reverberated around the globe. Here it is (inset picture, supposedly Tom dressing in drag again, was actually his sister, Cruise's lawyer says). But what we really wonder is, if he's Dorothy, why that hairdo? He couldn't find a wig with braids? Somebody call Costume!

More on Defamer and a nod to cathar for sending it in.

i have a male friend in nyc who is in the publishing business and according to him and his fellow lambda members, it is well known that tom is gay. so, what's the big deal tom? nobody is gonna care one way or another...it's the 21st century.

Only the people who thought Liberace and Rock Hudson were straight think that Tom Cruise is straight.

I assume those people also think he can act.

Paul Rudnick, the gay screenwroter who wrote "In and Out" and "Stepford Wives" and "Adams Family Values" and "Jeffrey", said it best: If there were a gay guy out there who had even kissed Tom Cruise, trust me - there'd be pictures. My goodness, they could probably snag 10+ million for a blurry shot!

But, Tom sure doesn't handle it very well...Most other actors (except Richard Gere) shrug off the gay rumors or laugh at them (who in Hollywood hasn't been called gay?). But, Tom sends out his lawyers and sues. Though he considers himself a versatile & serious actor, I doubt he'd ever take on a homo-role!

I have gay friends according to whom it is well known that [just about anyone you can think of, insert name here] is gay. And yet some of them were unaware that Michael Stipe is gay. I place little credence in word of mouth in these matters.

Anyway, Tom Cruise is no Tom Hanks.

Gay, schmay. Who gives a rat's ass? And who cares what this two-bit actor has to say?

Two things that I find interesting about Tom Cruise:

1. That so many twits like us feel we have to say something about him.
2. That he's inadvertently responsible for a new phrase, " rel="nofollow">jump the couch.

Dunno why that link didn't work, but here's the URL:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jump+the+couch

I don't care whom he choses as a bedmate. He just needs to shut his trap about meds, especially if he continues on his textbook display of mania (for which people are routinely medicated.)

Vitamins, my patootie.

But don't you think this whole brouhaha has ultimately raised the public's awareness of mental health and sickness and the value of pharmacologic treatments? The stupid things that people say can be educational!

At the very least - and it is kind of "least" in its own special way - Tom Cruise, whatever his sexual preferences, is not Jim McGreevey. If he thus has "beards," they have surely been knowing beards, unlike our former Governor. Think on that.

He is, however, apparently the highest-paid actor in the world. Again, whatever his sexual preferences. And which openly gay actors like Jon Lovitz and Rupert Everett will never be.

Hey, in another 20 years he'll run for Pesident and you'll all vote for him.....right after Arnold leaves the White House.

Uh, Jon Lovitz isn't openly gay.

It's not confirmed whether he's gay at all. Granted, he's not confirmed as straight either, but he's definitely never come out.

Don't much care if Tom Cruise is or isn't.

The odd thing is... I spoke with adult actress Kim Wylde, who used to work with Heidi Fleiss. She mentioned that from time to time she and other good looking women in Hollywood trying to be actresses would be hired (via Fleiss) to go to some of the really big parties and just walk around and be friendly, acting as the window dressing of the CA "Dream Factory" fantasy. She went on to say that, before they were married, both Tom Cruise and Tom Selleck would come on to the women quite intensly (they weren't allowed to actully have sex/go home with anyone). And these were private, no-photographers-around parties; so apparently even when he wasn't trying to keep up a public image, Tom was aggressively straight. Just kinda swishy.

Oh, fer crying out loud! Everyone in the free world knows that Cruise and Travolta are GAY and that Scientology owns 'em!
Come out, boys, and set yourself FREE! We could care less if you're gay, just stop the lies and trying to fool us. We've known for years!
