The McMansion Show
Opening reception tonight at 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. for an exhibition, “McMansionsâ€. The theme of the exhibition is “Build Out.†Seven artists from the New Arts Group display their opinions and feelings on the subject through painting, mixed media, drawing, photography and other artistic devices. Women's Soccer Alive and Kicking at the Sixth Annual Goals For Life Women’s Charity Soccer Tournament. Go see 400 Women Playing on 23 Teams - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brookdale Park.
Benefits “In The Pink,†a breast cancer early detection and education program at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey. Goals For Life Café will be open throughout the Tournament. Montclair Center Stage, a brand new performing arts venue officially kicks off the summer music series this Sunday, June 11, 2006 at 2 pm. with Cate – “smooth, funky, soulful, poetic.†Montclair Center Stage is "a sophisticated sound stage" which they’ve been building today at the foot of Church Street. 14 weeks of free Sunday music, outside, 2-4 p.m. Additional concerts scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays. The 17th Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, which“promotes dialogue and activism through the screening of distinguished documentary and dramatic films" will screen 24 films from 19 countries through June 22 at the Walter Reade Theater in Lincoln Center. The festival showcases heroic stories of activists and survivors through the eyes of courageous filmmakers, putting a human face on threats to individual freedom and giving voice to those who might otherwise be silenced.
