This weekend in Baristaville:

  • Lunchtime Music. Bloomfield center's summer concert series continues today (Friday, July 14) from noon to 2 pm at Venner Park.

  • Brookdale Concert. Essex County's Summer Music '06 continues with Jay Black and the Americans, Friday July 14 in Brookdale Park, 7:30 pm.

  • Close Shave. Cafe Theatre, an evening of short one-acts, continues at 12 Miles West, Friday July 14 and Saturday July 15 at 8 pm.
  • Rock at Tierney's. "Baked Fresh Daily" Friday night, July 14, from 9 to 1.

  • Montclair Backyard Habitat Project. Saturday, July 15, 9 to noon, five backyards in Montclair and Glen Ridge, all certified as backyard wildlife habitats, will be open to the public. Montclair houses listed here. In Glen Ridge, visit Barbara ("Welcome to My Garden" Miller's backyard habitat at 281 Forest Ave., where she'll be serving peppertmint lemonade.

  • Indie Women. Luna Stage's Saturday Concert Series continues this Saturday, July 15, with performances by Montclair singer-songwriter Susan Chamberlain and, from New York, crooner-pianist Clare Cooper. 9 pm.
  • Sunday at the Zoo. "Red, White and Blue Zoo Day" at the Turtle Back Zoo, July 16, 11 to 4. Treasure hunts for the kids and Dixieland jazz for the grownups.

  • Literary Left Fielders. MEWS Editors v. Writers face in a softball challenge. Mountainside Park in Upper Montclair, 4 pm. on Sunday, July 16.
