"Jersey Girl" Speaking Tonight

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

jerseygirl2.jpg

Kristen Breitweiser is one of “The Jersey Girls,” - a group of four women who were widowed when their husbands were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. These women became famous fighting for the creation the 9/11 Commission, despite strong opposition from President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Condoleeza Rice.

Tonight, meet Breitweiser and hear a discussion of her new book "Wake-Up Call: The Political Education of a 9/11 Widow." The memoir details her transformation "from a woman living in a self imposed bubble of domestic bliss into a political pit bull."

Sounds like one not to miss...Barnes & Noble in Clifton Commons at 7:30 PM - second floor event space. 395 Route 3 East, Clifton, NJ. 973-779-5500.

Bravo for your tireless efforts, Kristen - and thanks for putting a certain gutless bully named Coulter in his/her place.

We all should be grateful to Kristen Breitweiser and the other Jersey girls for their tireless efforts in getting the 9/11 commission up and running. Thanks Kristen.

Now if only Bush & Co. (and Congress) would actually embrace and implement all the recommendations of the 9/11 commission...

Coulter is a "she". Anne Coulter. Total wackjob if you ask me, and a nasty, despicable person.

Coulter is a "she".

Nor sure about that. Next time, check out the Adam's apple.

No thanks, I really try not to look at her for too long.

Posted by Pork Roll | September 13, 2006 3:02 PM

"She" has man hands too.

Ann Coulter is the best. We need more people like her and Mark Levin. The Dem's need to wake up before our country goes all the way down the tube. I hope they can march in next years 4th of July parade. Right behind the yellow panthers.

Posted by Bloomfield Guy | September 13, 2006 4:01 PM

I hear if you look at her image too long, you turn into a pillar of salt.

Posted by She's an evil "woman" | September 13, 2006 4:16 PM

Bloomfield guy,

Exactly, how are the Democrats making this country go down the tubes --they aren't the ones with the power right now.?

Why would you want more people with Ms. Coulters behavior? Imagine dealing with people like that in your day to day life. If there is one thing we don't need, it is more meaness. And that is all she boils down to--a mean hateful person--with a bad temper.

"Ann Coulter is the best...Dem's need to wake up before our country goes all the way down the tube."

I hope this is a gag posting because I laughed loud enough that my coworkers asked me to forward whatever it was I was laughing at. The Dems need to wake up?!? You do realize who is presently running the show right?

And even Ann Coulter hates Ann Coulter. Ick, I feel defiled just writing her name.

"his/her" was not a typo. That was meant on purpose.

Posted by United We Truly Stand | September 13, 2006 4:46 PM

Ah. "Adrogynous Anne".

Posted by Pork Roll | September 13, 2006 4:55 PM

Wrong on all counts... Coulter is not even human.

Breitweiser was on Larry King recently. "Crooks and Liars"(www.crooksandliars.com) has a great clip of her responding to Coulter's slime about the 9/11 widows "enjoying their husbands' deaths". Breitweiser noted that many people who have suffered a tragedy in life, especially the loss of a loved one, have acted on their experience, not only make sense of it for themselves, but to try to ensure that other people don't have to suffer the way they did. Think of the many charities for children's diseases, or Meagan's Law for example. What about the work of John Walsh, who hosts "America's Most Wanted"? His son was abducted and murdered 15 years ago. The fact that this man has made a living off his tragedy does not invalidate his suffering or his right to speak out about it. You don't hear Coulter slandering him do you?

The topic is about Kristen and not Ann. Please don't belittle Kristen by comparing her to the intellect of Ann.

Posted by Iceman | September 13, 2006 6:24 PM

Leave it up to a bonehead like Ice to use a word like "intellect" to describe that witch.

I can't stand Coulter and am sure that Breitweiser is a much better person. But I do wonder about the choice of the cover photo - she's a "widow" but she looks airbrushed and beautiful and has a content look on her face - it doesn't exactly inspire sympathy in me.

Posted by Terryl | September 13, 2006 10:55 PM

Terryl,

She's wearing a black turtleneck and a dark grey suit jacket. The photo is from the wiast up, which combined with her clothing, doesn't display her figure. Her makeup is pretty conservative; no bright lipstick or anything heavy around the eyes. And while she doesn't look miserable, she doesn't look happy, either.

Ann Coulter is photographed on her dust jackets looking like a $50 hooker.

How should Breitweiser look? How about a black veil? If anything, a theatrical display of widowhood is the least appropriate way to appear. And frankly, I don't think she is looking for anyone's sympathy anyway.

Check out a great new movie called Press for Truth. There is a bootleg copy floating around the internet somewhere. See what the "Jersey Girls" did for this country, then go ask George Tenet to give his medal of freedom back.

Posted by guido santa | September 13, 2006 11:57 PM

Count me as a conservative who can't stand Ann Coulter. I put her in the same media whore category as McGreedy. There is very little substance there.

By the way, I think Breitweiser looks fine: he clothes, hair and makeup are tastefully done without looking garish. Would you have more sympathy for her if she was homely or bedraggled-looking? Isn't that kinda a sexist comment?

Slightly OT, but I heard that Air Amerika is filing for banckruptcy...no surprise there, what with the big loan scandal still being investigated and Randi Rhodes' and Janene Garofolo's rabid diatribes.

Posted by Miss Martta | September 14, 2006 9:22 AM

Martta, your information is wrong.

From Thinkprogress:

If Air America had filed for bankruptcy every time someone rumored it to be doing so, we would have ceased to exist long ago; it may be frustrating to some that this hasn’t happened. No decision has been taken to make any filing of any kind, we are not sure of the source of these rumors and frankly can not respond to every rumor in the marketplace.

That information was posted yesterday.
See what happens when you get your news from Rush Limpballs?

Posted by shelly | September 14, 2006 9:49 AM

Shelly: FYI, I got the news the from today's NY Sun:

Poor Al Franken hasn't been paid and must go to bed hungry...bwahhh!

Posted by Miss Martta | September 14, 2006 9:58 AM

Martta, did you read past the first paragraph?

The information I posted is from the same article:

Ms. Horn said in a statement yesterday: "No decision has been taken to make any filing of any kind."

She said: "If Air America had filed for bankruptcy every time someone rumored it to be doing so, we would have ceased to exist long ago; it may be frustrating to some that this hasn't happened."

I have a simple question for the folks who would defend Coulter: How does denigrating a group of women who lost family at the WTC on 9/11 do anything good for anyone?

It doesn't. Coulter was wrong, and that's not the first time. Her writing is filled with fake statistics and plain old poor research. In short, she is a hack. Notice we haven't seen much of Coulter lately; she got her promotional bump for the sales of her "book" with those inflammatory statements, and she has slithered back to her den. She'll be back, when she needs more cash.
