Also, check out the grand re-opening of its Country Store and Museum Shop. Originally Nathaniel Crane's home built in 1732, the shop is located behind the Crane House Museum at 110 Orange Road. The first floor houses a permanent exhibit of a typical 1800's general store -- like the one Israel Crane operated -- now filled with old maps of Montclair, reproductions of historic toys and other unique stock.

As noted above Redefining the Heart of Tea is a fundraiser for Kenyan farmers. Funds raised will be used to purchase solar powered radios for the farmers so that they may take their first step into the modern world of tele-communications. Right now, these folks have no way to receive emergency weather notifications (or up to the minute weather reports of any kind), public health bulletins or any other type of news in the timely fashion that we have grown accustomed to here in the US since the 1930's.
The benefit is the brainchild of Wanja Michuki, a recent transplant to Montclair from her native Kenya. Cheryl & I as well as our next door neighbors at Terra, Grace & Carla, were very moved by Wanja's appeal & have agreed to fully donate the food, tea, space & labor costs so that more radios may be purchased.
The event is rain or shine. RSVP's to Wanja (contact info above) are requested, but walk-in guests will be accomodated.
Come on out and support a worthy cause.
