If this is a "Holiday" Tree why isn't it illuminated at other Holidays such as July 4th, and Labor Day?

I live in Bloomfield but have always thought that GR has the prettiest tree. It's an easy landmark at night during the holidays to help guide my guests to my house!

Do they take down and put up those lights every year or do the lights remain on the tree. It really is beautiful.

I hate to say this since I love Montclair and have a family history as residents for over 75 yrs, but the Montclair tree looks pitiful!

Thanks to all who attended the Tree Lighting ceremony. To answer some questions:
1. The tree is permanently permanently strung. Historically, the Rotary had hired a crane truck each year to install and remove the strings, but as the tree grew it became impractical to do so. The decision to install permanent lights was made, and now only annual adjustments are needed to adapt to seasonal growth.
2. The tree is indeed a holiday tree, but short of having red, white and blue lights, and a general lack of snow, there seems to be little sense in lighting the tree in July, or year-round. Maybe Arbor Day?
3. Yes, indeed, the event was lame, and shall continue to be so for years to come. Welcome to a small town where little changes from year to year, except perhaps the tax rates. You should see the Memorial Day parade, and count the lawn mowers proudly marched by the Kiwanis, to understand that hokey is what some of the best Traditions are based on.
4. Happy Holidays!!
