How Fun is That?

The next time your hoity-toity Manhattan chums look at you pitifully for moving to Dullsville, ask them when the last time the Metropolitan Museum of Art threw a Mattress Parade. Here was the scene yesterday at the Montclair Art Museum's Family Day, captured for posterity (and suburban bragging rights) by Montclair photog Fran Liscio

It's nice to see the Original Barista Herself once again writing on the site. Wondering though what a matress parade entails. Obviously, from the photo, a marching band. Did the parade proceed up Bloomfield Ave? And who was marching? Baristaville is dying for details.

a mattress parade was just a fun and imaginative kick off to family day at the montclair art museum. the musicians marched along playing their instruments, and every few minutes they would lie down on their mattresses for a rest. the crowds of little kids in attendance thought it was really funny and marched along with them. they only marched around the museum grounds, but it was really cute.

Today is the day that the Labrador and golden retrievers are being judged at Westminster.

What a great idea! It reminds me of kindergarten, when we'd bring our blankets for nap time, which came after milk and cookies.

Oh, such were the joys! Now it's all toil and humiliation.

Can I be in the band next year? Pleez?

The marsupial was up late last night, clearly. Seeking a mate on Matchmaker G'Day, I hope. (Either that or he knew he could telecommute today because of the bad weather.) Otherwise, he will leave no local spawn. Plenty of witless spoor, yes, but probably no spawn.

And that would be a tragedy. Ho go, gentle marsupial, go and play in the snow which is likely unfamilir to you. See the yellow snow over there in the corner? It is so tasty to lap up with your tongue and cute, furry little paws.

And under the car with its engine running, there is even some blue-green, even yummier snow. Try that one too, walleroo.
