Hell freezing over is no reason for Hudson County Community College to close. It will be open; I will try to trudge in, students will not show up and life will continue.

I do not know what Montclair does; I do know that teachers are probably counting snow flakes and hoping for the best..."ooh, you're a holiday...."

After reading about the 10 feet (what are they up to now?) of snow in Oswego, NY, this is small potatoes.

DUR DUR DUR

About 141 inches in Oswego...can you imagine!

Yes, our snowfall will be rather insignificant to the bold Ithacans-Oswegans; however, we will make it a big deal around here. It is just our way....

GLOBAL WARMING ALERT:

It's twenty degrees, there is 114 inches of snow in NY and the city is about to get walloped Mr Gore.

"GLOBAL WARMING ALERT:

Let me fix that for you:

"I dont know how global warming works."

Bloomfield's off Thursday, Friday and Monday for 'winter break'. If it's snowy and/or icey, I hope our new Super calls school off tomorrow. Though I don't expect to be snowed in, I picked up two liters of gas (for the snow blower) and a liter of JD (for me), just in case. It could be a very long weekend, especially if it starts on Wednesday! :)

Global warming is real, it's going to be awful, and we must do something really painful about it now. Anyone who disagrees with any part of this assessment is morally depraved and ought to be put to a slow, painful death.

The board of education already decided to cancel their meeting tonight in Bloomfield. Seems like an omen for school tomorrow?

Given that it's mid February, with no snow forecast beyond today/tomorrow and most of next week being a vacation week, I think the district will cancel tomorrow because of ice (not because of snow). They have not used any days this year, and have a few to use.

"Marsupial"

That's such a funny word...

"I picked up two liters of gas (for the snow blower) and a liter of JD (for me), just in case."

Surrounded: two liters of the former sounds correct; one liter of the latter may not suffice. As your attorney, I suggest you consider a 1.75 liter of Number 7. Or Gentleman Jack for a mellower snowed-in experience.

And Walleroo: I don't know exactly where you had lunch today, but next time you are going there, let me know. :)

"Global warming is real... Anyone who disagrees with any part of this assessment is morally depraved and ought to be put to a slow, painful death. "

Isn't global warming already doing that?

Now that Montclair has discontinued the "snow chain", we won't have the joy of being called the evening before a purported storm only to wake up and find not one scrap of the stuff. But I fully expect that they've already decided, and are simply waiting to honk the horn at 6:00 tomorrow morning.

The marsupial should take care tomorrow. He may slip on the ice, unfamiliar as he is with our harsh northern hemisphere winters.

But if he'd like snow tire studs inserted into both his cute, furry little paws and his pouch, I'll gladly volunteeer for the job. And will accomplish same with a nine-pound mallet.

When is the white stuff due to commence?

""I dont know how global warming works."

How right you are.

Not even the esteemed mr gore knows how this planet works. Though he would love to take his private plane to your home town and tell you otherwise.

he should stick to something he knows a little something about.

Like LOSING.

If he's the Father of the Internet, then who's the Mother? Was it an immaculate conception or was the Big I produced the old fashioned way?

Hey! I was selected for a free laptop on the "results" page!

I heard from pretty reliable sources that the mother of the internet is Carmen Electra.

I'd certainly like to ping her IP address.

Global Warming Alert

This just in from the National Weather Service.

NY City is scaling back it's snow totals for tomorrow. The revised totals are two to three inches by 8 am not the 1 foot originally reported.

Global warming is being blamed for the heavy rain that will begin around 8:05 am tomorrow morning and continue throughout the day.

There is now a Flash Flood Alert that is being issued for Wednesday, according to Max Mayfield and Al Gore in the National Weather Service.

North and west of the city can still expect 1 to 2 feet of snow by Wednesday night.

Mayfield tells us that Mr. Gore has no idea why there will be snow and rain w/in a 20 mile radius, but Gore say only some will be inconvenienced by the snow

More to follow..

When did they do away with the snow chain? This is the first I heard of it. Why?

It melted.

Blair bypasses Bush to build a consensus on climate change

By Colin Brown, Deputy Political Editor
Published: 14 February 2007

Tony Blair is to devote himself to fighting global warming when he quits power this summer by promoting an American rethink on the Kyoto protocol.

He discussed his plans for a post-Bush consensus with Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, who has made climate change a priority for her presidency of the G8 and the EU.

Mr Blair is using Globe, an international forum for parliamentarians to discuss global warming, to persuade the big three polluters, America, China and India, to join global action to tackle climate change.

The Secretary of State for Environment, David Miliband, a Blair ally, will use a speech by video-link to a Globe conference in Washington today to call for a dramatic shift by the United States in favour of a successor to the Kyoto agreement on climate change.

The forum is one of the few places where US senators can discuss climate change with Indian and Chinese politicians in spite of the reluctance of the White House to engage in discussion of the Kyoto targets.

Mr Blair's aim is to prepare the ground for a new US president to take over in January 2009. He believes the German presidency of the EU and G8 could prove decisive in driving forward the agenda. "It's one of the reasons he wanted to stay on until June. He thinks he can be a decisive influence at the G8," said an ally. "He sees it as a legacy issue.

"Tony Blair has a huge amount of credibility over here on the issue of climate change. There is an opportunity for him, once he formally steps down, to utilise his contacts and credibility on the international stage to engage Democrats and Republicans in a consensus on climate change."

President George Bush refused to sign up to the Kyoto targets, but Mr Miliband will call for US states, led by California, to sidestep the White House by linking up to the EU emissions-trading scheme after the Kyoto agreement runs out in 2012. Mr Miliband will write to nine US states to ask them to build on the agreement last year reached by Mr Blair with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governor of California, on a trading scheme.

The pressure for US states to sign up to the EU emissions action will be reinforced by Stephen Byers, a former cabinet minister, who chairs a key working party for Globe on market mechanisms to stop global warming. Mr Byers said inWashington last night: "Irrespective of the view from the White House, the political mood in America is changing. We need to seize this opportunity to begin discussions now aimed at bringing America alongside other countries in fighting climate change."

More of that raw fish, Conan. Two days in a row, now. Soon I'll be barking like a walrus.

Global Warming Alert:

Report:

The Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2123 Rayburn House Office Building has been postponed due to inclement weather.

A snow and ice storm is the cause.

No comment yet from mr. Gore. We tried to reach him on his private jet, his assistant said the cancellation would be just a little inconvenient.
