Anybody else unimpressed by Montclair's snow plowing? At 1:00 p.m. I drove from the South End to the A&P, with a couple of stops on the way (off Chestnut, and on Park). The only road that looked to be at all plowed was Watchung Ave.--hey, that's a county road! Bloomfield Ave. was iffy but better than anything else. Oddly, Valley, whcih is also county, was terrible. No side streets plowed, Park St. a mess. I'm sure the plows and salt trucks are out there somewhere--the question is where?

Posted by slip slidin' away... | February 14, 2007 1:57 PM

The roads are VERY slippery...I have not seen/heard plows on Valley Road.

What are the chances Montclair will close school again tomorrow?

Your tax dollars at work. Why plow when you can just wait for the sun to melt it all.

Posted by Apache Chief | February 14, 2007 2:03 PM

I just traversed North Fullerton and Bloomfield to Gates. What a mess. Hardly any plowing done at 2:30pm, a bunch of sedans spinning out from their parking spaces and barely a sidewalk cleared. This town is so expensive and so highly taxed but has none of the public service to warrant it.

Unbelievable!

Move to Bloomfield. Twice a week garbage pickup all year around and they actually plow streets.

"Move to Bloomfield. Twice a week garbage pickup all year around and they actually plow streets."

Well, they did get the garbage this morning, but I haven't seen any plows. Wind is getting very blustery right now. Thanks for the warnings -- I will avoid Montclair tomorrow.

I want to know if any one made it to the bloomfield animal pound today.

Who the heck is going out in this mess? Cracks me up ..all these people complain about plowing when they shouldn't be on the roads to begin with. Unless its an emergency or you have to go to work(do they have scrooge for a boss) STAY AT HOME.

GOOD GRIEF, Charlie Brown!

Hiding . . . do you live in an iron lung or something? Do you really have to respond to every post with some assinine comment? Do you get paid by the bit?

Get a life (and you're still a douchebag.)

Did you guys see the new Mandy Moore video?

So hot!

In GR - mail and trash pick-up no problem. But still no sign of snow removal at 3:30pm

Posted by tangomama | February 14, 2007 3:32 PM

I live on Park Street, plows came by only about 2:30, but not a great improvement. Stay inside, if you can.

Posted by whippersnapper | February 14, 2007 3:33 PM

Amazing! Six minutes! 360 seconds!

Why don't you go shovel your neighbors' walk or something remotely useful?

Posted by Rchanin | February 14, 2007 3:34 PM

I like marshmallows.

Fluffy!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 3:39 PM

Well, given your completely innacurate and misleading posts (bordering on hysteria) as it related to the turf issue, I guess assinine comments are all your good for.

Facts are our friends . . .

The clouds in the sky make snow.

Cold!

Rchanin,

You do realize that anyone who doesn't post a name comes up as "Hiding in Baristaville"? There are 1000s of such posts.

Just wanted to make sure...

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 3:46 PM

They should change the ID "Hiding in Baristaville" to "anonymous" so dumbbells like Rchanin understand these posts are not from the same person

Saw someone out cross country skiing in Nishuane Park.. Didn't see anyone out sledding, though, which is a shame since it feels like a good sledding snow.

The Bloomfield public works must be closed today. Broad Street still hasn't been plowed on the North end as of 3:30 PM. Well, except the streets by the Mayor's house of course.

Posted by Steve from Yellowstone | February 14, 2007 3:55 PM

I live in Bloomfield in the North end - south of Watchung. Our street was fully plowed by 3:20pm and neighbors were out with snowplows helping other neighbors..

Posted by Bloomfield, a great place to live | February 14, 2007 4:15 PM

I live on Broad St between GR Pkwy and Bay Ave, and it was only within the last hour that Bloomfield Public Works plows came thru here.

I was down at Dunkin Donuts at the corner of Broad and Bay about two hours ago, and saw a few cars get temporarily mired in the slushy slop that had built up in the middle of the intersection. Considering that Broad St is the major north-south thoroughfare in town, I thought it would have gotten more attention, and earlier in the day.

Pompton Ave is a mess. And I got to drive under a platoon of snow plows PARKED on an overpass above 280.

Posted by My Name is Tyler Durden | February 14, 2007 5:04 PM

Steve,

where does the mayor live?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 5:09 PM

Clear the snow off the streets so it's safe to drive? Here in Montclair? You're kidding yourselves. Wait for the self congratulatory press to appear. Vote the bums out.

10:25 pm. No Township snow plow - We are last - 4th Ward - Monroe and Wheeler is a hill; Cars slide backwards - Every year. Every year.

When they finally plow, they push huge snow bolders across the driveway I just shoveled - even if I go outside, beg them not to, and show them the empty 20 ft of curbside one inch past the driveway where they could push the snow! Every year. Every year.

At 5 or 6am the next morning I will re-shovel the driveway. I will do this each morning after the Township plows, until the snow melts or winter ends. Every year. Every year.

I will continue to pay my property taxes on time, and wonder why. Every year. Every year.

throw the snow back into the street.

That'll learn em

Posted by Just don't let them catch you | February 14, 2007 11:38 PM

I live on Bloomfield Ave, right near Fullerton and Glenridge Ave. I watched the cars slipping and sliding as they climbed the slow incline of Bloomfield Ave all day. At around 1:30 the snow plows cleared the Southbound side of Bloomfield Ave. It wasn't until 3:30 that the Northbound side was finally plowed as well. The trucks were all private contractors, many had Caldwell names on their trucks. I didn't notice that active secondary streets were cleared until this morning, where I came out to find everyone recycling on the Ave scattered all over the sidewalks, not from the wind, but from the snow plows cramming all the snow onto the sidewalks.
