I do go in there every few weeks to buy my lube - it is the only store in the area that sells it and I'm glad I don't have to go online or go into the Village to get it. So, there. I mean seriously, get a life.

It's only been warm now for a few weeks. I think it goes deeper than that.

The fact that the Master Plan discourages it doesn't have any actual bearing on what they are allowed to do. Master Plans are nothing more than guides to development, not the letter of the law. The can be strictly followed or they can be ignored.

Social Security Office
Inner Eye
ABORTION CLINIC
Laundrymat

Every other storefront on that block has turned at least once. This is not Short Hills or Bernardsville. You live in a community that alows these businesses to operate as long as they abide by set rules. If the porn shops aren't abiding by the rules, get 'em out. dealing with Montclair is like dealing with the ACLU, in theory you're on the right track but when looked at from a practicality standpoint, you're all way off the mark.

Nobody likes porn shops, nobody wants trashy retail on the streets and nobody wants to see people get away with opening up these places without at least some opposition.

If the zoning and the laws allow this guy to operate, than he will. If not, he should close. The old store had adult games and novelties in the front. Nothing you can't find in Spencers.

The new store has a cleaner look to. The front section has all the movies you can see on HBO 20 times. They have the swinging doors. It is not an eyesore like some of the stores on Bloomfield.

CALVERT, Md. (AP) - Toby, a 2-year-old golden retriever, saw his owner choking on a piece of fruit and began jumping up and down on the woman's chest. The dog's owner believes the dog was trying to perform the Heimlich maneuver and saved her life.
Debbie Parkhurst, 45, of Calvert told the Cecil Whig she was eating an apple at her home Friday when a piece lodged in her throat. She attempted to perform the Heimlich maneuver on herself but it didn't work. After she began beating on her chest, she said Toby noticed and got involved.

"The next think I know, Toby's up on his hind feet and he's got his front paws on my shoulders," she recalled. "He pushed me to the ground, and once I was on my back, he began jumping up and down on my chest."

That's when the apple dislodged and Toby started licking her face to keep her from passing out, she said.

"I literally have pawprint-shaped bruises on my chest. I'm still a little hoarse, but otherwise, I'm OK," Parkhurst said.

"The doctor said I probably wouldnt be here without Toby," said Parkhurst, a jewelry artist. "I keep looking at him and saying 'Youre amazing.'"

CHIANG MAI, Thailand - Chuang Chuang the panda has been spending his days in front of a big-screen television watching panda porn.

Authorities at the Chiang Mai Zoo in northern Thailand hope the images will encourage him to mate with his partner, Lin Hui, and serve as an instructional lesson in how to do it right.

So far, it’s been a tough sell, the zoo’s chief veterinarian, Kanika Limtrakul, said Tuesday.

“Chuang Chuang seems indifferent to the videos; he has no reaction to what he’s seeing on TV,” Kanika said. “But we’re continuing to show him videos and hoping they will leave an impression.”

Pandas are threatened by loss of habitat, poaching and a low reproduction rate. Females in the wild normally have a cub once every two to three years.

There are as few as 1,600 giant pandas in the mountain forests of central China, according to the zoo. An additional 120 are in Chinese breeding facilities and zoos, and about 20 live in zoos outside China.

Zoo officials say Chuang Chuang will be reunited with his partner in about another week. The two pandas have been kept separate since late last year as part of efforts to spark some romance between them.

Chuang Chuang recently was put on a strict diet because zoo officials said he was too heavy to mate. The diet trimmed him down from 331 pounds to 313 pounds.

Thailand rented 6-year-old Chuang Chuang and 5-year-old Lin Hui from China for $250,000 in October 2003 for 10 years. They are expected to generate millions of dollars in revenue from Thai and foreign tourists.

(That others might might also say a great unfavorable deal about their mothers.)

Things may have improved in the years since Le' (got to get the mistaken accent in there) Sex Shoppe closed. But only nominally. There are cleaner, safer, less public ways to buy lubricant, even. (Use your imagination and shop carefully the next time you're in CVS.)

These places are dinosaurs. Profitable dinosaurs in many cases, but they do nothing for either property values or the moral fiber (is it so hard to utter that phrase?) of a community. And in many, if not most, instances the tangled provenance of their wares leads back to the most scabrous elements of society. That porn shops still have their defenders says very little of a positive nature about society. And for those of us who remember the "old" Times Square, to assert even mildly otherwise than that porn shops attract lowlifes (and yes, Miss M, even incipient child molesters-in-training, many patrons often asked my friend where the "kids section" was) is simply ridiculous.

Equally ridiculous is the attempt by one or two posters above to divert attention from the issue by, naturally, blaming the Church of Rome and its clergy. Come now, really. This is not at all the same thing. Shall we also await in vain the sponsorship, even covertly, by a porn shop of a youth baseball or soccer team? The operators of such places aren't exactly known among even their fellow merchants for their community service, after all.

Annette, regarding the "Master Plan" (sounds Godly) what on earth do you have against DeCozen? They have been there since before the first yuppie arrived in town. They sell alot of cars in Montclair. What do you have against the Dunkin Donuts or the nearby Subway Sandwich place?

if i had to guess, after conversations and the like, i would estimate that about 80% of guys in my office use and/or buy porn. they do not go to porn stores, but use it on the internet. Growing up my parents owned a video store which had an adult section. I don't think that you would call the people that rented the adult videos unsavory or shady or any other adjective used to deride these people. There were of all classes, male and female.
