fire%20on%20bloomfield.jpgSoprano Sue is stuck on the Garden State Parkway going north, along with hundreds of other cars, as a result of a raging fire in Bloomfield. One or two homes are burning, adjacent to Home Depot, by Exit 148. “Flames have engulfed the rooftop of a three story building,” says Sue. “Water is spraying everywhere. There are big clouds of white smoke pouring out. The parkway is backed up in both directions.”
Debbie Galant is at the scene. Avoid driving on Bloomfield Avenue east, past the Glen Ridge border! Cars are being diverted onto the GSP, whether you like it or not. If you are heading west from Newark, you’ll hit a detour at Orange Road in Bloomfield.
Police, fire trucks and ambulances have reported from Bloomfield, Newark and Montclair. Smoke is coming from what looks like a four-family home, next to O’Donnell’s Signs. Rooftop spectators across the street taking it all in.

LOL Emily! But you were scooped by Rosanna Rosannadanna, who is reporting from Nutley.

I imagine the Boonton line is far enough away that it should be okay. The smoke seems to be blowing Northeast and away from the tracks. Home Depot says they are still open and they are closer to the fire than the tracks.

Yes, I was stuck on Blooomfield Avenue for hours on a packed bus from Penn Station. It was hell but nothing compared to the damage. I hope no one was hurt.
What a day! I checked Barista and found this, Orange Road, student beatings and more. Sad.

re: “What a day! I checked Barista and found this, Orange Road, student beatings and more. Sad.”
I love / am addicted to Baristanet, but it’s starting to feel like watching the 10 o’clock news, which I always refer to as the “regional crime report”.
Like the stuff you find out about on the evening news, this stuff is always happening, as it does everywhere as daily life unfolds, with all its ups, downs, triumph and tragedies, etc. But unless you’re a health care worker, a fireman or police officer, an undertaker, or you are directly afftected by an event, then a lot of this is hidden from your daily perceptions. But now you perceive life as it is, without rose-colored glasses.
With a news source like the television news or this blog, you become aware of all of these events and the trick is to contain, integrate the awareness without feeling depressed, or like the sky is falling. It’s a balancing act that I can’t always perform successfully. The up side is that increased awareness might spur a grassroots push for real change, such as a citizen demand for increased police patrolling, etc., and/or “the powers that be” would be shamed / inspired to make changes for image preservation /damage control. Or folks may take up a collection for those affected by the fire, etc.

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 2-year-old boy is being hailed a hero following a fire that destroyed his home in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Neither can I especially when considering the time wasted here versus the relatively short time before we’re all worm food. And no another Forum? Nah, guess all that’s left is to say “Francaas!” and to live well. From here on in it’s all trannys and yellow discipline. Your mom’s box!

When I was a teenager back in the dark ages I thought the most romantic songs were "Don't Worry, Baby" and "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. But my romantic life back then was more in tune with "Love Stinks" by the J. Geils Band.
