After the Deluge

Monday, April 16, 2007

Bloomfield Schools are going to start 90 minutes late on Monday, and we're sure that's not the only fallout from the heaviest local rainfall since 1877. Post other delays, traffic and transit info and other useful Monday morning tips here.

Due to flooding, Montclair-Boonton Line service is suspended. Shuttle buses will operate from MSU and Bay Street stations to Newark Broad Street for service to Hoboken and New York. Regular route NJ TRANSIT bus and Newark Light Rail will cross-honor rail passes and tickets as will DeCamp Bus. Passengers should anticipate delays and may want to seek alternate means of transportation.

any one know how late decamp is running? i called and all they would tell me is that the 66 is running.

Not sure why Bloomfield has a delay...they were turning the kids away at the door. Most parents drop off at the curb. Not good!

DeCamp is running a bit late but the roads weren't as bad as I thought they would be. I left late today, around 7:45 from Verona, and got into PA at 8:32.

Update for Montclair-Boonton Line Customers: Limited service has been restored to/from Hoboken only. Service will operate on a special schedule until 2:30 p.m. After 2:30 p.m., trains to/from Hoboken will operate on a regular schedule. MidTOWN DIRECT (to/from New York) will not operate today. Customers traveling from New York should board Morris & Essex trains and connect at Newark Broad Street Station or take PATH to Hoboken

I've heard this comment about it being the most rainfall in 100 years or thereabouts. Doesn't anyone recall Hurricane Floyd of September 1999? I had a 5-gallon drywall bucket on my patio that was empty at start of that hurricane and I measured 14 inches at conclusion of Floyd.

Maybe they mean the most rainfall other than a hurricane, which was an unusual occurance up here?
