Expect delays and crowding on Decamp...
From NJ Transit...
TRAIN UPDATE: From NJ Transit:
Due to high water, service on the Montclair-Boonton Line is suspended until further notice. Customers may use their tickets and passes on NJ TRANSIT buses, DeCamp buses or Newark Light Rail. However, due to limited capacity, customers are advised to expect delays and crowding conditions.
ROAD UPDATE: From Soprano Sue, who's a courier in real life. Sue's had an eye on flooded roadways since yesterday, when drivers were stranded on Rt. 46 in the Lakeview section of Clifton after Racy's pond breached, and late yesterday afternoon, when a retaining wall by the service station of Grove Street in Montclair, right on the Clifton border, collapsed.
If you're heading into the Lincoln Tunnel, there's smooth sailing up until Secaucus, where things are slowed down now by an NJ Transit bus has tried unsuccessful to jump the barrier between service road and the main road.
She reports that the Passaic River is almost up to Rt. 21 and warns that, as always, streets that have the words "River," "Lake" or "Ferry" in them, are guaranteed to be under water.

Where was that photo taken?
That's the alley near Egan's. Baristanet doesn't recommend drinking and then riding the rapids.
Does anyone know exactly why the Montclair Boonton line is suspended? It seems that trains are running east of Newark Borad Street (implying that the tracks are not flooded). Wondering what the outlook is of having service restored by this afternoon.
There is some other commuting related news on the PATH train from Hoboken. The NJT website implies that PATH is running normally, but the Hoboken terminal entrances are sandbagged and closed. Everyone must use the elevator. Thus, it could take longer to enter/exit the station than your actual ride.
The Montclair-Boonton Line is suspended because the tracks are indeed flooded, just like the other week. They flood around Watsessing Ave now apparently, so nothing can get west of Newark on our line. MTB has its own track line, meeting up with the Morris & Gladstone lines at Newark Broad St., which is why there are trains running.
NJT has its act slightly more together this time by providing shuttle buses to Newark Broad St. I took one of these from Bay St. station with a delightful driver. However, we had to wait 40+ minutes for a train to NY!! Lot of good standing around there did me. Took 2+ hours overall to get into the city.
very organized effort NJT. For the circumstances, I'm impressed. The driver was very nice. It did take 2 hours to get to the city but they did the job in an organized fashion. The question is how do we get home?

Update for Montclair-Boonton Line Customers: Limited service has been restored to/from Hoboken only. Service will operate on a special schedule until 2:30 p.m. After 2:30 p.m., trains to/from Hoboken will operate on a regular schedule. MidTOWN DIRECT (to/from New York) will not operate today. Customers traveling from New York should board Morris & Essex trains and connect at Newark Broad Street Station or take PATH to Hoboken
Last night, returning by car from NYC via JC, I was caught in a flood in the meadowlands where cars got stuck half way underwater in an underpass. VERY SCAREY!!! I just kept going but now I have 3 inches of water that must be drained out from the interior of my poor old car.
I made it into the city from Montclair State in a little over 2 hours. NJ transit advised they would shuttle people from Montclair State to Newark Broad St. Only problem with that was they sent a driver who didn't know how to get there. I had to tell him how to get to Walnut st., then Newark broad. At Newark Broad, it was like waiting for the last chopper out of 'Nam if you were going into New York Penn. Trains were packed like Egans on St. Patty's Day. Hoboken trains weren't as bad. It should be a fun ride home...
If you're trying to get out from NY Penn Station, NJT recommends taking a Morris & Essex line train to Newark Broad St. and catching the Hoboken trains there. I don't think I want to deal with the flooding in the Hoboken terminal tonight anyway...
If they don't restore full service to the Montclair-Boonton Line by this evening's commute, do you think DeCamp will still be cross-honoring NJTransit tickets? I'm thinking of ditching the PATH idea and just taking the bus home. (of course, it's only 1:27pm and I'm already planning my way back home!)
Does anyone know how to catch the DeCamp bus from NY back to Montclair? In Port Authority, obviously, so if I take the E to 42nd...?
I've only ever taken the train home and I am directionally challenged. I'm a visual person.

Take the E train to 42nd street. Follow the signs in the subway station for Port Authority South Terminal. You can get into PA directly without going up to the street.
You will need to buy a ticket before getting on the bus. Go to the main ticketing area on the first level of Port Authority and look for the windows that serve Decamp and Academy Bus Line (someone in the information booth can direct you here if you have trouble.)
After buying your ticket go to the 4th floor. Decamp #66 leaves from gate 412, #33 leaves from gate 411. The lines will be long today - ask around until you find the correct line for your bus.
Get there early because the buses will be packed.
Good luck!
How much is one ticket if they are not cross honoring train passes?
Right now I guess the bus is the only way we can get back home, right?
Tickets are $5.85. Not sure if they are honoring NJT tickets.
Trains are running from Hoboken to Montclair. You can also take the PATH to Hoboken and catch the train there.
