After being dark for months, Wellmont Theater is getting a new life, after dark. The historic theater is poised to become Montclair's first gentleman's club. ScoresNY has tapped the Wellmont for its first NJ outpost. Frank DiGrasso, a spokesperson for Scores, says "With a hotel on its way to Montclair and an adult video store across the street, Montclair is poised to become NJ's premier bachelor party destination."
The gentleman's club dovetails nicely with plans for Hotel Caliplofker. "There's going to be a lot of people coming to Montclair, and they're going to be hungry, thirsty and quite possibly horny. Between our restaurants, bars, adult video store and hotel rooms, we can accommodate all their needs -- and then some," says Rick Reuben, mouthpiece for the developers.

April fools! . . . I hope.
RATABLES!!!!!!
Yeah right! I guess they will also offer a buy one/get one free coupon for a sex toy at nearby Montclair Video.
Oh, very classy. This should really improve the recent perceived increase in crime! Guess I should have saved some money and bought property in a Newark ghetto...well, at least some of the Montclair matrons will have employment opportunities other than as yoga instructors and interior decorators.
Nice. Montcalir's red-light district. Maybe someone will turn one of the churches that are going out of business into a brothel. Then I wouldn't have to go all the way to Newark for a little fun. That would be sweet.
Don't we pay anyone to say no to this kind of thing?
leansleft,
Have you seen any studies that say that men who frequent strip joints committ more crimes than men who don't?
Does anyone know if this establishment will offer childcare to those Montclair matrons that leansleft thnks will eagerly apply for employment?
If they do it should be a welcomed opportunity for parents who work in NYC and have to rush home to collect thier children from daycare as it certainly will be open later than 6pm.
The good news is that the Wellmont is within walking distance of the crescent parking deck.
What are they proposing to call the new club? I thinks ScoresWell sounds good!
Liz's post has a tongue-in-cheek tone to it...I think (hope) this is another April Fool's post!

No, you have to resist the temptation on your own, someone else can't do it for you.
Endeavor,
You go all the way to Newark when there are perfectly respectable brothels in Bloomfield.
why?
April Fools!!!...?
Praying this is an April Fool's joke...
You almost had me there...April Fools!
Ha, You had me for a second. Sadly, it almost seemed plausible.
I read it; it is an April 1 joke. Or it is an all year around joke.
What a great April Fools gag - if it is. If not - when are the public hearings?
The public hearing and discussion was last week. You must have missed it 'cause it wasn't posted on the Monclair website.
You had to be there to be in it.
A survey was also sent out to most of Montclair's residents. If you missed xit there's no where to pick it up.
I think April Fools postings are
(Comment deleted. appletony banned for three days.)
Was this a self banning or a Barista official banning?
Clever, Appletony.
They might as well change the name of town too, because what is going now over there is rediculous. Red Cheetah's got the teeny bopper drunk crowd locked up, and now a Gentleman's club (read: Booby Bar) is coming. People used to think Bloomfield was bad with their strip clubs; Montclair thinks it's not a big deal if you wear a tux and a bow tie. As David Lee Roth used to sing : " All right you Sinners, swing!
