Speaking Of Iris Peaking...

Friday, May 18, 2007

We just got word from Presby Memorial Iris Garden that Mother Nature has delayed peak bloom time (originally expected this weekend) for the tall-bearded irises. Count on seeing the gardens in all their splendor over Memorial Day weekend, through the first week of June. Presby is celebrating their 80th bloom season this year - check out all the fabulous flower festivities on their website, including a showcase of victorian gardens planted by 12 area landscapers, a multi-media retrospective exhibit in the Walther house.and an evening wine tasting amidst the blooms.

And on Memorial Day, there's going to be an artsy Garden Party:

The Student Art Exhibit brings out the young aspiring artists of Montclair; last year’s show featured almost 900 entries from eight schools. All students who live in or attend school in Montclair can enter. Professional artist, Katherine Kinkaide, will judge and award prizes. May 26, 10-4 pm. Refreshments donated by Whole Foods of Montclair and Applegate Farms. Puppeteer Jennifer Levine will perform.

I told you spring was delayed. So what does this mean for global warming? It means we're entering a period of horrible cooling that will result in the total destruction of the hyoomin race in 10 years unless we ACT NOW to INCREASE EMISSIONS OF GREENHOUSE GASES!!!!

Why are you all just sitting there? Go out and drive your cars, burn some coal. Now march!

Yes, Walleroo, Baristaville is the Center of The Universe and only our weather matters. Now go back to sleep.

Oh, I forgot. Local weather is only "evidence" when it's warm, not when it's cool. Mustn't go against the orthodoxy.

No, I'm merely asking you to put the situation into perspective. Global warming describes the entire planet and not solely Baristaville. I'm not frothing at the mouth about how hot it gets during the summer here in the Northeast. Calm your marsupial self.
