Tango Needs His Meds!

Monday, October 29, 2007

For weeks, I've been seeing big, bright "Lost Cat" posters of Tango around town, you can't miss them. Chrissie, Tango's owner, emailed us this weekend:

My cat has been missing for one month - I have put up many signs, talked to people, looked and looked, etc.

Many residents mentioned that lost cats on Baristanet are often found! With that in mind, I am sending you my latest flyer with the hopes that you can post something for me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most of the relevant info is on the flier, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call.

View the flier after the jump...

What is the general vicinity of said kitty's home? Just the facts, mang.

Not sure, I've seen a lot of his posters around the Walnut St. area, so perhaps around there. Maybe Chrissie will comment with more info...

Hi -
This is Chrissie...Tango's owner. He got out of the 2nd story window from an apartment above Zuchette's Pizza on the corner of Walnut and Grove.
He had only been here for a little over one week, and got out the window. I left it open by accident for maybe 20 min. He has no collar...no chip...and has never been outside before.
THANKS everyone for your help and support!!!
Best,
Chrissie

I'm a multiple cat owner and my parent was a vet. Sorry for your loss. However, you should be aware that if your cat has been missing for about a month, chances are either someone else has taken him in, or he's in kitty heaven (especially with no collar and has never been outside before).

Chrissie, I'm the guy who left the msg about the orange cat on Montague St a couple weeks ago.

I saw that cat again a few days ago & comparing it with these new photos & observing its behavior further, I'm certain that it's not Tango. Sorry. I've still got my eyes open as I drive around town.

Not true GRguy17. My Dad's cat ran away from home and returned 6 months later ! Wasn't injured at all. He was perfectly healthy. Sorry to hear Tango needs meds though. Good Luck Chrissie.

I don't know if this is your cat, but Dr. Gustafson from Essex Animal Hospital told me he took in an orange cat that was hangong around his porch. I believe he lives in Bloomfield. You can call him at Essex at (973) 748-8042. Feel free to say Kathi Gannon referred you. He and his wife are both vets,so if it is Tango, he's in good hands.

My cat is currently at Essex Animal Hospital and I'm going to visit him today (wish I could bring him home...). If Chrissie hasn't called and gotten an answer about whether Dr. G's found kitty is Tango, I'll ask. Can even print out the flier to show him or his staff.

My husband and I saw a cat that could have been Tango hanging around the catnip that I planted next to the driveway. We're at Grove near McDonough. When he finished enjoying the nip, he ambled into the next yard and we haven't seen him since.

forgot to mention the sighting was last Saturday (10/27)

If Tango is a little skittish, It would help if someone set a trap at Grove and McDonough, or any other areas where he may have been spotted.Maybe Montclair Animal Control would help wiht the trap. The ACO is Melissa Neiss; you can reach her in the Board of Health.

is that the ACO who couldn't catch that poor loose dog- Brownie_ for over a year in the South End and then said that Brownie should be put to death.

I heard that brownie has a nice home now!

Years ago an 'intact' male, orange, short haired tabby showed up at our property. We started to feed him, but he wouldn't let us get too close. I thought he was a feral cat.

I trapped him and took him to the vet to treat a leg wound and to have him neutered.

When I picked him up, the vet, Dr. Cameron, told me that he, 'Tiger' might make a good pet as the staff didn't have any problems handling him.

I took him home and put him in an inside cage for convalescing. I decided to try and pet him. Within about 30 seconds he was rolling over on his back and I was rubbing his tummy. I was floored. He's one of the most affectionate cats I've ever known.

I bet he belonged to someone and got loose, maybe due to his burgeoning 'maleness' he decided to roam.

He's got a good home now and still loves to have his tummy rubbed - very rare for cats.

We saw a VERRY similiar cat wandering on Bruce Road around 5PM today...

Posted by goodnightgracie | October 30, 2007 7:52 PM

Hi - its Chrissie again! I did get a call from Bruce road! (I know the road because last year when that bad storm happened - there was a down power line sparking and i almost drove over it) Sightings have occurred at North Willow (between Glenridge and Claremont), Bruce St, Northview (addresses in the teens), Roswell Terrace (Glenridge/Montclair). I think he's near the A&P/Northview/Bruce area. I actually get quite a few calls, everyone is so nice and people have been very supportive, friendly, and helpful. We have a great community. Melissa Neiss is aware and is supportive and in contact, and I've heard great things about Dr Cameron (but have not visited). Thanks again for all the tips and info - sometimes it takes me a while to get back to people as my cell is off during much of the day :-(
