Ok now.....I have a Provost/Patrick sign and it is clearly marked with the source of the contributor...hmmmmm...hoping that clears up the above-referenced erroneous allegation. But...and a very big but! The law also says one sign per property. Your above picture shows 2, I've seen others with 2 or more per property....what should we make of this?....Seyffarth was running out of places to put them and had to double and triple up?
If a gadfly wants to upset the status quo, how does that apply to Yvonne? It doesn't make sense. This is not a single-issue candidacy. Artificial turf is just the most easily identifiable example of the current Town Council's (and Linda Seyffarth's) consistent disregard for the will and opinions of the town voters.
This was clearly shown in the petition and referendum which was ignored. The current Council decided to install artificial turf, stopped maintaining the fields, and now claims that it is a crisis (of their own making) that can only be solved by spending MORE tax-payer money. This demonstrates a clear lack of accountability. It is their responsibility to maintain the fields. The town doesn't want artificial turf, and the Mayor and Council have admitted that turfing Hurrell will not resolve the current over-use of the fields anyway. It is an expensive amenity that the town has irresponsibly decided to go forward with in spite of the lack of voter support. This happens after spending tax-payer money on the Rutgers Study which says that grass can be maintained on fields with appropriate care.
Peter Hughes said that the artificial turf should be put to a vote. That is being a responsible elected official and the real issue at stake here. The Glen Ridge voters want to not be disregarded and demand accountability for the actions of their elected officials. I stand by Yvonne Provost and Stuart Patrick who are passionate about returning Glen Ridge to the people of Glen Ridge.
This is a single issue candidacy: Provost, who's lived in Glen Ridge all her life, and who's the daughter-in-law of GR gadfly Cherry Provost, is having her children read "Our Guys" in case of a backlash against her candidacy. They should also read the comments about the sale of the old central school from the Gadfly!
Gadfly is a term for people who upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or attempt to stimulate innovation by proving an irritant.
Unlike many of the residents of Glen Ridge, I did attend the meet the candidate?s panel and listened to what the candidates stood for. This is what led me to provide my support and funding the cost of lawn signs to support the election of Harry Rush and Linda Seyffarth to the council. They provided rationale answers, and proved to be reasonable people who were neutral, and open minded to listening to both sides of any argument. As opposed to the irritating comments, provided by the write in candidate, who exposed; My mind is made up, do not confuse me with facts attitude.
Make no doubt I am in support of correcting the less than satisfactory, and miserable field conditions at Hurrell, Forest, Carteret Park. I have been attending council meetings for over four years (check the records) requesting that the field's be repaired. I do not care if it is artificial turf, or natural grass, just fix it. GR Votes, and their candidate have yet to unveil a plan to do just that, fix the problem, instead they continue to irritate the underappreciated volunteer town council.
I would prefer not to litter our lawns with political signs; however the mini machine of GR Voted prompted me to support the candidates who will provide the best option for the residents of Glen Ridge, not based on one issue, but based on a three year term.
To the opposing candidates or the supporters of the candidates: you are in clear violation of the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission codes N.J.S.A. 19:27A-1 et seq. & N.J.S.A. 19:-12.8and 13.1 through 13.5: ?Candidates and committees subject to the Act are required to label all political communications with ?paid for by? language. Also, individuals or entities that make independent expenditures are required to label all political communications with ?paid for by? language.
Please learn to pay attention to detail; it is what the people of Glen Ridge are looking for.
