From the town website...
As Montclair Township enters 2008, municipal government is significantly and substantially improved from where it was just a few short years ago. In every area of local responsibility, things are better. In fact, with township government continuing to do its part, our community was safer, better, and more attractive in 2007, and is positioned to continue to have a great quality of life.

Shouldn't an annual report contain some (even cursory) summary of finances? Debt, taxes and all that boring stuff?
The word "debt" doesn't appear.
More like the annual propaganda report.
You're so quick to jump to contusions, ROC. Always so negative and distrustful. All the financial data is laid out clearly and thoroughly in the appendices.
perhaps your appendix or mine, but unfortunately the report has none.
Your appendix or mine? That sounds like a pick-up line for CPAs...
it would have to be mine, walleroo's if full to the brim with marsupial bile.
"Your appendix or mine? That sounds like a pick-up line for CPAs..."
Or surgeons!
For such an efficient government (they said it, not me), you would have thought they would have spell checked their report prior to publishing it.
Of course there are appendices. There are dozens of them, ROC. Are you blind, man? They're protruding from that report like tentacles on an octopus.
The only thing funnier than this annual report is the National State of the Union Address.
I suppose if the town council feels no need to worry about the bottom line, then why should their annual report contain any numbers. I mean, it's obvious that the ability to perform rudimentary math is lacking among them. Every year they think one plus one equals three in regards to their budget balancing.
They will never be forgiven for taking the sewer fees out of the property taxes to claim the smallest municipal tax increase in years. This town council is phonier than Cool Whip and should be ashamed. They purposely lie (demise of the wayfinding project) and this annual report is a complete mockery of our intelligence. I suppose tomorrow they will tell us that this is an example of their wonderful government transparency.
I hope no one with any relationship to this current council gets reelected here or in any other position where they are asked to serve constituents.
The sewer authority was a double whammy. Not only was it a hidden tax increase, but because it is a fee it IS NOT TAX DEDUCTBLE on your income tax.
There is no benefit to the town to charge residents this way other than to hide the tax increase. It is shameful.
Nothing but Hartnett blowing his own horn again. This guy is a joke. The sooner he is gone the better.
