A tipster asks...

Is that rated PG?
Dearest Liz, joy of joys and everburning fire in my furnace, after sending off the photo to be analyzed with an electron microscope I've concluded that vandals have isolated the word BUTT. Ooooh.
I now must pay the $50 million bill from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for use of said microscope. Send your tax-deductible donations to Walleroo's Campaign for Decency in Popular Culture, Upper Montclair, NJ.
I didn't know they showed Rocky Horror at the Bellevue. I believe I see the lips in the window. Anyone remember the stage show in Verona?

Oh yeah....
Yippee. So I can now use my free Tuesday tickets on X-Rated films? Decisions decisions.
Ew! Analog. How quaint. I think the professional who was responsible for the Bellevue marquee got hired away by Lukoil to work their price signs.
oh, ooh-ooh I know - it no longer sticks out too far so the 66 DeCamp doesn't hit it anymore.
Yeah ackme, those were the days. I believe the "bouncer" (Alan?) came from the original group in the city that made up the lines and the stage show, at the Waverly I believe. It's all a bit hazy, but I recall playing Riff in the stage show a few times.
Oh, Liz! You enlarged the photo! That means you must love me after all! Oh joy! Rapture!
Unfortunately, I still need to pay LLL...
State Street,
I was one of the original cast members from the cast that is currently at the Bellevue. Back in 1999 they moved from the Darress in Boonton to the Screening Zone in Montclair. After the Zone closed down, the cast moved to the Bellevue.
Currently they perform Saturday nights weekly in Bergenfield, the last Friday of the month in Morristown, and the first Friday of the month at the Belleview. The cast's website is www.HomeOfHappiness.com.
...and after all these years, I still spell the name of the theater wrong. :-/
Thanks GNM! I had no idea people were still doing the stage show around here. I have to go.
And they look serious too! We just threw stuff together and hoped for the best. I see you have to 18+ to join. That's funny. One of the dads had a van and drove around picking us all up, since no one in our crowd was even old enough to drive.
For those with dirty minds (and perhaps some knowledge of history), much is wrong with that marquee.
So the Bellevue Theater has been moved to Bloomfield Center, with matching signage?
Personally, I was hoping for more Montclair influence on Bloomfield than the other way around, but perhaps they were always the same anyway...
Remember the Park Theater in Verona? When I was at MHS in the 70's, we saw such great movies there. Fellini, George Lucas's THX 1138... Freaks & Reefer Madness, of course. Fun.
In 1972 I was the theatre cleaner at this venue.
A feature film then was "The Sound of Music". There were weekday matinees that were well attended by hundreds of school children.
I watched in trepidation as the little kiddies loaded up on popcorn, soda, candy, ice cream treats and whatnot.
At the conclusion of the film I would do battle with prodigious mounds of litter co-mingled with spilled soda, melting ice cream, crushed popcorn and candy all mushed together into a sinuous mush.
But every now and then I would stumble upon two or three contiguous rows that were spotlessly clean and cry with a sob of gratitude. I still remember that these rows had been populate by those cute kids in the catholic school uniforms.
Good times, good times.
I could talk about smoking ganga up in the crawlspace above the theatre lights, but that's another story.
Butt why?
