Just What We Needed: Thrilleaders!

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

For those who need more than the stock market to get their adrenalin going, there's Six Flags. And if the Great American Scream Machine ain't enough for you, they're introducing professional cheerleaders this year -- just to rev things up. Hot from their PR headquarters:

Six Flags (NYSE: SIX) announced today the launch of the first-ever professional, theme park cheerleading team - Six Flags Thrilleaders. Making their public debut for the 2008 season, the Six Flags Thrilleaders will promote the company's unique brand of thrilling entertainment and become an integral part of Six Flags’ ever-expanding entertainment offerings.

Under the direction of professional choreographer Tony Gonzalez, Cheer/Dance Choreographer for the Bring it On movie series, the Thrilleaders will captivate Six Flags guests with their explosive, high-energy routines and act as Ambassadors of Thrill throughout the Six Flags family of parks. In addition to performing at parks, the Thrilleaders will also participate in various community, charitable and corporate events.

Think you've got what it takes to be a thrilleader? Tryouts are Saturday, April 19, 2008, from 9 to 4 at the Doubletree Times Square in New York City.

I'm trying to "contact" baristanet, but it won't work - so I'm hoping whoever posts notices this.

Anyone know what they are filming at the high school? Rode through yesterday afternoon and saw the remnants of what it looks like when a tv show/movie/commercial is filming and then saw the whole crew early this AM when my 66 passed.

Thoughts?

Back in the 80's the filmed "What If I'm Gay?" an afterschool special.

And, I suspect, Fox-TV is already planning the reality show to pick the Thrilleaders. That show will result in at least four spinoffs, two of which will involve aliens, and the other two of which will feature faux-frontal nudity. Sorry, this is not any News Fit to Blog. (We get yelled at when we reprint Press Releases.)

I drew caricatures at Great Adventure for the summer of 2004 - come 2005 they had some weird dudes walking around in pirate outfits bothering the guests. Luckily a week after starting my second summer there I quit. We used to make fun of all the crap Six Flags would try to do to make the place more enjoyable, and I tell you, cheerleaders could only make it worse.

Dance motivators,
Thrill Leaders,

what's next --

Appetite modelers, sitting at the next table ordering the 60oz steak.

Laugh leaders, paid to watch the same movies over and over again, uproariously.

Mall mauraurders, carrying lots of flashy merchandise through the mall, as if anybody really does pay full price.

Oh goodness, I've never wanted to go to Great Adventure so little. I just hope they don't use the commercials they had for the past few years with that creepy looking man in them.

Maybe GWB can teach a thrilleader class after he retires.
