Northeast Going Global With Amazing Auction

Thursday, March 20, 2008

I confess, I'm a sucker for a live auction. Love the suspense. Love the paddles. Love the whole thing. On Friday, March 28th, Northeast is having its Going Global gala at the Upper Montclair Women's Club. The goal? To raise $40,000 for a redesiged media center with all new bells and whistles that will become the school's Global Studies Center.

In addition to the four Ds (drinks, dinner, DJ and dancing all for $50), there's both a live auction, with Bill Evans, WABC meteorologist, as auctioneer, and some very cool silent auction items. So help me folks -- I'm overwhelmed by all the choices...

My Ballot Box
What would you bid on...

watch a World Series game with Yogi Berra
have lunch with Tiki Barber
ride in a blimp
rub elbows with Jeremy Piven and Eva Longoria at Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmy party
go to Botswana, Africa with Ashley's Soccer Camp
spend a week in your very own Catskills lake house
hang with 10 friends in a Hilton Head beach house

The silent auction prizes are great, too (and way less stressful). They include: tickets to Jersey Boys on Broadway, tickets to the opening day game of the Giants where they will receive their Super Bowl rings, a private tour of MOMA and (my favorite) tickets to see Saturday Night Live with Christopher Walken hosting. I loved him in this. For more information, or to RSVP for the event, drop a line here.

Wow. Depending on the seats, I'd be hard pressed to decide if I wanted to spend more on the Giants' tix or the SNL with Mr. Walken.

Let's go, Baristacrats: name that auction prize:

-- One weekend as Client 9
-- Ringside seats to TGIF at the McGreevy's
-- Frog gigging in the Meadowlands with Eli Manning
-- Drycleaned and autographed blue sweater from Governor Corzine
-- An invitation to monitor the White House phones at 3:00 AM for one night only
-- Three sets of Hillary Clinto's timesheets from the Rose law firm
-- An autographed picture of Cathar and Mikey when they were still friends
-- A garage makeover by Frank GG

... okay, youse got the idea.

Conan,

I'm laughing too hard to think of anything right now..

Definately a gareage make-over, to turn my 2-car into a 6-car (3 doors, each 2-cars deep). Sick of paying garage rentals all over Blmfd. Then I could hace all 6 here, plus the wife's and the son's, that reside outdoors and are target's for pigeon poop daily.
That would be neat.

How about:

-- a night of bumper cars with Corzine

-- a day behind the wheel of a DeCamp bus with all liability costs underwritten

-- a marsupial house party under everyone's favorite porch

Christopher Walken is too much. Best SNL guest host ever (quality times frequency). Heather Locklear was a champ as well (too bad she only made it a few times).

So now I'm thinking maybe a date with Heather. And Walken can valet my car.

Oh wait, frog gigging with Heather AND Walken. The heck with that valet biz - that's way under utilizing his capabilities.

I think I would bid a lot to run around sockless and in cut-offs with those two, chasing leapers deep into some July summer night.

Good thing this isn't a thread about Governors; otherwise Former's comment could lead to a lot of speculative conjecture.

Awww, it's simply Platonic frog giggin' I have in mind. Plus, just got back from my local CVS and I see (from the cover of the National Enquirer) that Heather has been feeling down ("mixing pills & vodka", they proclaim), so we may all just have a quiet night in.

I always liked her on "Spin City" - never saw "Melrose Place", not even once.

I think there are two pictures of me and laserboy floating round, Conan. One has us wearing "Henry Wallace For All The People" t-shirts, the other shows us with Alf Landon. I'm the one making "devil horns" behind the perpetual candidate's head.

I'd bid on a picture of our Barista wearing a TILF T-shirt. You know, (Trolls I'd like to F***).
