Pay For Tap And Give Water To Kids Without

Monday, March 17, 2008

This week, if you are asked to pay for your tap water at a restaurant, it's for a good cause.

Alexandra Nagourney, a Glen Ridge High School junior and UNICEF volunteer has been working on a UNICEF project called the TAP Project, a nationwide effort to try to provide clean water to children around the world. Alex has been recruiting local restaurants to participate during World Water Week, March 16-March 22, when waiters will ask customers if they want to donate a minimum of $1 for their tap water.

Raymond's, Church Street Kitchen and Fitzgerald's have joined the TAP Project. If you can't dine out this week, but want to donate, go here.

Alex, what a wonderful thing you're doing!

My wife and I went to Raymond's for breakfast yesterday morning (the 16th) and were not asked to donate. Thanks for the web site, I can make my donation there.

You know, I hate the guilt-based shame donation. Want to donate a $1 for such and such when you are checking out at the market. Pay $1 for your water...

I go for the blanket "no" because that's not how I complete my charitable dontations.

ackme, if there isnt a sign at the check out counter, or a person asking for a donation, im sure you dont complete your charitable donations by telemarketers... so why not say "i dont give"
