So Long, Friar Tuck

Friday, March 28, 2008

After years of feeding the hungry and making merry, Friar Tuck is banished from Cedar Grove to Sherwood Forest. Coming in it's place, a new banquet hall from the owners of the iconic Tick Tock Diner. The new upscale locale, designed by Arnold Syrop Associates, is planning on indoor/outdoor areas embellished with 25,000 plants...Tick-Tock says it'll be about two years before they are ready to host the first party.

i always thought this would've been a good place for the Trader Joes everyone was so eager to see come to town. Parking, good location, easy to get to from all the various towns fighting for one.

Ah farewell. Attended many a MHS swim team banquet there and at the former Robin Hood Inn.

Somehow, I don't associate the Tick Tock Diner with catering but we shall see.

As I recall, it was rumored (on this site, actually) that a Joe's would open at The Village at Clifton, which is rapidly under construction behind the TGI Friday's. Any new news?

R.I.P., Friar Tuck. I assume, from this photo, that the building was razed. I'll have to take a drive by this weekend and pay my proper respects.

I haven't eaten at the Friar Tuck since I was a Cub Scout, so I can't honestly say I'll miss it.

Couples & tables from April to June. We'd end the night at Pal's Cabin winding it down with hamburger's and beer.

I have fond childhood memories(not)of sub par buffet food celebrating Easter or Mother's Day, with my parents and siblings. So long, farewell and goodbye.
