Toni's Soup Kitchen is one of Montclair's truly special places. This ministry, based at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 73 South Fullerton Avenue, provides up to 70 guests with a hot, nutritious meal every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Toni's also provides medical testing and other services to those who would otherwise go without. Many of their visitors have no means of transportation around town other than walking, a need which has given birth to a program called "Spokes for Folks."
Beginning this Saturday, March 22, and for the following three consecutive Saturdays, Toni's would like donations of bicycles, helmets and bike locks.
If you'd like to help...
Donate bikes in good condition (all sizes) that you no longer use. Donate helmets for safety's sake. Donate bike locks (new or used).
The collection dates at Toni's Kitchen, St. Luke's Church are March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you have a donation but can't deliver it to the church, please contact Bonnie at (973) 493-5346 .

Hmmmnnn..
This could be a really good excuse to upgrade from my Trek 830 Antelope (circa 1990) to a snazzier model.
I'll just go buy a new bike and then tell my wife this brilliant idea.
I once heard that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. This strategy usually works when I add another guitar to my collection. It should work for bicycles too..
:-)

THIS STRATEGY IS NEVER VALID IN MARITAL SITUATIONS; APPROACH WITH SEVERE CAUTION TO AVOID THE MUCH DREADED "ICEBERG" REACTION.
Ice melts eventually, Conan. Trust me. I tried Mellon's strategy out once with a sports car. Drove it home one evening and told my wife to have a look in the driveway. Whoooooo-doggie. I have only fragmentary memories of the resulting sh*tstorm. I recall mostly the sensation of falling...

handsome bird He's been a regular at our bird feeder. Kind of like a 'raptor fast food stop'. I saw him snag a sparrow a couple of days ago...
Ice in glasses melts eventually; icebergs only melt in geological time frames; and they can rip the guts out of your bilges, too.
I've got my eye on this baby.
