Watch your step! A tipster writes...
I am a daily commuter on NJT from Watchung Ave. to New York Penn. I was in the front car on the 6:18 commute home [Tuesday] when we pulled up to Watchung Ave. As the doors opened, I took one step down and almost fell onto Watchung Ave. This is not an exaggeration. The train had overshot its stop and there was no warning from the crew or conductor. I stopped abruptly and turned around and warned the passengers who were behind me trying to deboard and we went back to the door in the other car and squeezed our way onto the pavement.I was so shocked that there was no warning or no safety feature that I took a picture from the ground level of the open door above the street.
The tipster says he is filing a formal complaint with NJ Transit. Baristanet contacted NJ Transit and have not yet received a response.

I do believe someone died due to the same exact incident a few years ago?
anyone confirm? I heard that a commute fell onto watchung ave and was run over by a vehicle and died.
let's not forget the poor women last year who fell between the gap at Newark Broad St. station. She only broke her leg, and delayed the train for over an hour.
Glad to hear no one was hurt last night. let us know what NJ Transit says in reply to your complaint.
