This just in, from Publishers Weekly...
New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree has become the first Giant to sign a book deal after his team upset the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Tyree struck the deal with the Strang Book Group for an undisclosed amount and the book is scheduled to publish on September 2, 2008."It is important to me," said Tyree, "for people to understand who I am, where I came from, and how God has moved in my life."
Tyree's catch, which kept the Giants game-winning drive alive, has been described by Steve Sabol of NFL Films as "the greatest play in Super Bowl history."
Hat tip to the prof. Hmm...wonder if Strahan is just a wee bit jealous?

"Greatest play in Superbowl History?" Sorry, sports fans. And Sabol should know better: he (and his father before him) have edited more Super Bowl film than a room full of Belicheks. It was a stunning catch and it made a difference in the outcome of the game, because had he not held on the Giants were probably toast. But compare it to Lynn Swan's leaping, gliding catch against the Cowboys in Super Bowl X, or Dwight Clark's last second catch from Montana, also against the Cowboys. And, those recievers withstood the test of time before anyone wrote any books about them. And Strahan shouldn't worry: I am sure his agent can get someone to read Tyree's book to him.
