Have you been seduced by the mystique of Frida Kahlo? I was first introduced to Frida's work in Mexico City at the impressionable age of 15. She's unforgettable. From her bizarre, anguish-wrought paintings to the story of her romance with bigger than life painter Diego Rivera, to her famous unibrow, she's Mexico's national icon.
Her instantly recognizable face framed by dark braids atop her head, is everywhere - on shopping bags, as well as curio boxes, tees, wall plaques and mugs from the mercados of Mexico to the shops of Soho to the menu of Mexicali Rose... For years, Frida has enjoyed a cult status; perhaps the recent Frida-frenzy has been propelled by the movie of Frida, starring Selma Hayek.
Forty of Frida's paintings and more than 100 rare photographs are currently on exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art through May 18.
Weekend warriors, this just might call for a road trip. Tell us if you go...

We saw the exhibit back in February. Well worth the trip. The museum is great architecture and their impressionist wing is very fine.
