Rival contender for the self-promotion award, the ubiquitous Nicky Mesiah and her near celebrity-status toffee will be at Spice It Up tomorrow, 229 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair. The Free Noshing goes on all day, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Her latest creation is "Passover Toffee" - macaroon flavored and charoseth toffee w/cinnamon/raisins/dried cherries/nuts/chocolate.
She's also cooked up her 100%-totally fat free low carb cheesecake and the 'Bobbi' Cheesecake that has no more than 1% fat grams per slice, and a broccoli salad (gotta have the bitters) for the Passover-themed day.
At 5 p.m., Nicky will have a drawing for a free copy of "Fear and Yoga in New Jersey" (which gives the toffee a nod) and a box of toffee to munch on while reading....
Now if you want to know how far and wide Nicky's toffee is traveling...
Baristaville toffee junkies include writers Debbie Galant, Pam Satran, Benilde Little and Valerie Wilson Wesley all smitten with the almond variety. Food editors David Corcoran (NY Times) and Eric Levin (NJ Monthly), as well as Joanne at Raymond's, artist Frank GG and make-up maven Bobbi Brown (sugar-free only!) are also among her gourmand fans.
Nicky has managed to get her goods in the mouths of Dr. Maya Angelou, Mrs. Nat King Cole, Magic Johnson, Governor David Paterson and Julian Bond. Her gift boxes can also be found at Tiffany's, Bergdorf Goodman and Polo Store in NYC and at Hermes in Paris.
You go girl!

Everything that's been said about Nicky's toffee is true--and some! It's so good that it should be illegal.
