NFL Draft Day: Whatchu doin?

Friday, April 25, 2008

On Saturday, the New York Giants are holding their annual NFL Draft Day party, and for the first time, it's sold out - so no running over to the bubble and getting your party on if you don't already have a ticket. Well, unless you feel like being one of the folks on craigslist begging to buy some, that is.

In general, Draft Day is usually a pretty good time for football fans to get together out-of-season, since no one's having a tailgate for spring practices and two-a-days, and this year should be no exception given the Giants' surprising (sorry, I'm not a Giants fan) victory against the Patriots. So, what do all of you Giants fans have planned for the day, if anything? Heading into the city to go to Radio City for the live event, chilling in front of your televisions with a brew or three, or are you one of the lucky bunch who has a ticket and will be at Giants Stadium for the day? Of course, you don't have to care at all, and that's most certainly an option, but I'd expect this to be a pretty popular year for Draft Day in the NYC area, given the Giants' winningness and the Jets' needs.

unfortunately I will be at a wedding in Philly. I do hope that Giants trade Shockey for Roman Harper; although I doubt it will happen

Planting impatiens, that is if Ploch's has gotten any in yet, maybe a few tomato plants too.

Watching 'Cloverfield' and 'There will be Blood' for the second time.

Chowing down on Macaroni and Cheese.

Listening to the draft on the radio while house shopping in upstate NY.

Yes, I've got that much faith in the mayoral elections.

1. Hoping my Patriots pick up Sedrick Ellis - or trading the pick to get some linebacking help.

2. Can't wait to watch the Jets fan boo whoever is selected, even if McFadden drops that low

Mistah Cee, so good to heah from you again...

I think it is really good timing that the draft is being held on National Get-A-Life day. Very interesting article in yesterday's "Bahston Globe" about how the smart teams are looking in the middle- to late-first round and in the second round for the best values. It costs too much and can be very risky to put all that guarantee money into one player who may -- or just as likely may -- not pan out. Article is here:
