One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Which of these (see jump) is the Novelty Tourist Attraction cherry blossom tree at Branch Brook Park Visitors' Center, and which is the real thing? Only one way to find out--drive, walk, run, or pogo your way over to Branch Brook Park and savor the visual overload of cherry blossom nirvana. More information here:http://www.branchbrookpark.org/

Did the Cherry Blossom 10K race today and have to tell ya, the blossoms are just about at peak and they are exquisite. Next weekend is the Cherry Blossom Festival, check it out.

i'm glad the weather held for the run. how was the turn out? and i agree, those cherry blossoms lining the park are otherworldly in their beauty and fullness. thanks for the report, Miss M!

Turnout was not as good as in previous years, due primarily to the fact that another important race (Run for Rachel in Livingston) was scheduled for the same date. That is such a bummer when that happens. There should be some sort of running Masterplanner, like they have for charity benefits.

MM....Sounds like a good website for you to start!

Branchbrook Park and the cherry blossoms loom large in the Gadlfy family legend. Many pictures (both black and white and color) of the families at the park under the cherry blossom trees on Easter Sunday. It wasn't Easter or Spring without a visit to the park and the blossoms.

I plan to make my annual pilgrimage this week, on a weekday of course. Weekends are too crowded and too aggravating. I remember a time when those trees were sacred. You couldn't sit in them, climb them or heaven forfend break off branches. Now I see nothing but.

My heart both breaks and rejoices with each visit every spring. Branchbrook Park and those precious Cherry Blossoms are a priceless treasure.

Maybe, PAZ...not a bad idea!

I shot more than 100 pictures at the race and about a dozen had runners in them.

I'm sorry, those blossoms were just too attractive. I would have liked a bluer sky, though.
