A second bomb threat -- this time on Freeman Hall, a dorm -- disrupted the routine of Montclair State students today. The dorm has been searched and reopened, but students enjoying "premium dinner night" had to leave their dinners to evacuate. Bummer.
This message just went out to all students:
As you are aware, the University received two separate bomb threats today, necessitating the evacuation of the Student Center at mid-day and Freeman Hall in the early evening. The University takes any threat to the safety of our campus community very seriously, and appropriate law enforcement resources were called upon to respond to both incidents.
Threats such as these divert campus and local law enforcement resources. They are childish and immature and also disrupt students' academic focus and day-to-day life. It is extremely unfortunate that all students are inconvenienced by the thoughtless actions of a single individual or a few. Those responsible will be held accountable for their actions to the fullest extent of the law, and subject to disciplinary action in
accordance with University policies and regulations and restitution for costs incurred. If you have any information concerning these two incidents please contact the University Police at 973-655-5222 or email police-chief@mail.montclair.edu. All calls will be kept confidential.
