In the mood for some music tonight? Lura, a captivating Cape Verdean singer has a one-night show at Peak Performances@ Montclair. Sail away with Lura's sensuous voice, evocative dancing, melodies and rhythms from the Cape Verde Islands off the coast of West Africa.
The Portuguese-born singer, backed by her six-piece band, mixes morna style made famous by Cesaria Evora with the lesser-known rhythms of funana and batuque. Joining Lura for this high-energy performance are musicians Guillaume Singer on violin, Kau Morais on drums, Jair Pina on percussion, Toy Vieira at the piano, Vaiss Dias on guitar and Russo Figueiredo playing bass guitar.
