Woman Murdered In East Orange

Friday, April 4, 2008

Just received from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office:

At approximately 2:20 this morning, a fatal stabbing of a woman occurred at 492 Park Ave. Apt.12 in East Orange. The victim has been identified as Bobbie Harris, 38, of East Orange. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:57 a.m. Detectives from the East Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office have a suspect in custody.

UPDATE:
Terrence Brooks, 37, of Plainfield has been arrested. Brooks, the boyfriend of the victim, has been charged with murder and weapons offenses. Bail has been set by Essex County Superior Court Judge Michael Nelson at $400,000; Brooks is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, April 9.

Detectives believe the motive behind this homicide resulted from a dispute between the couple.

I hope the perpetrator is caught and fed to hungry white sharks.

No offense, but aren't people murdered in EO all the time?

Posted by ackme | April 4, 2008 2:32 PM

So it's actually gone down.

From the data that I found, East Orange has considerably fewer murders than Newark but more than Bloomfield, Montclair and Glen Ridge combined. The E.O. population is around 70,000 and the median income is half that of the neighboring towns.

So, no, murders don't happen all the time and even if they did occur with the same frequency as Newark, it's still horrible and very sad.

Probably a crime of 'passion' or a home invasion.

I predict that there will be an arrest by the end of the weekend.

WOW. Mellon, you got it right!

(The post above says they have a suspect...;)

Doesn't sound like a "home" (or in this case "apartment") invasion.

No, just wondering why this particular one warrants a Barista mention. None of the others have.

Prof,

Sometimes I'm such a doofus I amaze even myself.

"Or at least white sharks with the munchies.."

of sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

"or" not "of"

Jeez,

What kind of 'dispute' ends up in a homicide?

Sometimes it's something like dirty dishes in the sink or a lost 'crack' pipe or maybe even a dispute over whether David Archuleta is a better singer than David Cook.

People are really pissed off, aren't they?

oh, the spreading crime wave started about 1959. I was there when it stated to spread, right the f' through my apartment building and the rest of the neighborhood.
