Just in the nick of time, the court ruled against redistricting voters in Montclair's fourth ward. Stay put. You're not in the third ward, after all...at least not for today's municipal election. Is that less confusing? From Montclair township website:
ATTENTION FOURTH WARD VOTERSNotice: 5/12/08
As of this afternoon, the Superior Court of New Jersey has nullified a notice given two weeks ago to certain voters in the 4th Ward that they had been moved to the 3rd Ward. As a result, these voters will continue to vote in the 4th Ward. This order affects only approximately 164 voters residing at the following locations:
* 262-292 Bloomfield Avenue (even numbers)
* 2-58 Elm Street (even numbers)
* 2-48 Gates Avenue (even numbers)
* 1-17 Hawthorne Avenue (odd numbers)
* 1-15 (odd numbers) and 2-16 Union Street (even numbers)Anyone with any questions regarding this may contact the Office of the Township Clerk at 973-509-4900.

So let me get this straight: the 164 people who were told two weeks ago that they now lived in the 3rd ward, as of today now live back in the 4th ward? This sounds just the least bit confusing. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not taking any chances. Today, I'll vote in both the 3rd and the 4th wards. Oh...and the 1st ward, which is where I actually live. Or at least, I think that is where I live. I should probably check the Montclair township website, just in case. On second thought I'll also vote in the 2nd ward, just to cover all my bases.
