Broadway Barks is an annual adopt-a-thon for homeless dogs, staged in Manhattan's theater district. The charity, founded by dog lovers Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, supports animal rescue shelters. "Broadway Barks" is also a new children's book with CD ($17.95, hardcover), penned by Peters to mark the 10th anniversary of the event. Montclair artist and designer Liz Murphy illustrated Peters' book about Kramer, a pooch lost in Central Park.
Publisher Blue Apple of Maplewood paired Murphy up with Peters, who (surprise!) actually has a dog named Kramer.
This Saturday, May 10, at 1 pm, Murphy will be signing copies of "Broadway Barks" at Watchung Booksellers, at 1pm. Murphy will be accompanied by her own Havanese dog, Millie, Adena Misiewicz from local animal shelter, PAWS, and an entourage of homeless dogs. They're not expecting a visit from Bernadette Peters. Watchung Booksellers will donate 10 percent of their profits on the book to PAWS.

Sounds like fun. Hope I get a good barking space.
