A contract dispute that has dragged on almost two years might come to an end tonight, but we wouldn't hold our breath. The Glen Ridge Board of Ed has announced an emergency meeting for tonight, closed to the public and the press, to deal with "personnel, negotiations and/or possible litigation." That refers to the long, drawn-out negotiation of a new contract for teachers, who've spent all year working without one.
Inside sources tell us the hang-up involves wording involving the district's health insurance plan. The teachers union is ready to sign the deal.
Although teachers are not threatening a strike, they might start being a little more aggressive about taking personal days. And there is pressure for the district to get this deal done. According to the rumor mill, district superintendent Dan Fishbein has been offered a new job closer to home. If that's true, and the contract doesn't go through soon, the district could be negotiating with teachers and searching for a new chief at the same time.

Anyone know what the hang up is about their health insurance plan??
