Our calendar is packed this weekend with a mix of noteworthy events. Among the highlights: We're hearing fantastic buzz about MHS's production of the musical "Parade," which wowed fans last weekend and runs again this weekend.
It's an ambitious choice for a student production -- a challenging, complicated show that explores thorny issues of anti-semitism and prejudice. New York audiences weren't sure what to make of it when Parade opened on Broadway in the November 1998. It wasn't exactly a feel-good Christmastime songfest. So despite a wonderful cast, gorgeous music and strong reviews, the show only lasted a few months. Sort of a heart breaker. We're happy to hear that MHS's director Patrick Dearborne and his cast/crew have done a fabulous job tackling this compelling piece of theater.
This weekend, you can also...
catch a demo by the way cool MHS Robotics team. Or buy yourself goodies -- and feel good about it! -- by visiting the three-day Suburban Sky sample sale/fundraiser to benefit the Fresh Air Fund. Need a break? View Elzbieta Kaciuba's stunning photography exhibit at Cafe Eclectic this weekend, or grab a beer at Egan's and gaze at Linda Ippolito's gorgeous, color-drenched works of art.
