Streams Of Whiskey At Tierney's

Monday, May 12, 2008

Steve from Tierney's Tavern sends the following retro-cool invitation...

tierneys.jpg

along with this message...

Spring is here and what better way to celebrate than to come to TIERNEY'S, suck down a burger, then make your way upstairs to listen/dance/jig to the infectious sounds of STREAMS OF WHISKEY. As always we will be playing your favourite POGUES songs...and some IRISH REBEL SONGS thrown in for good measure. PLUS a guest appearance from MIKE MCDERMOTT who will be exercising his vocal chords with us. So don't miss out, we had a riot on st.patricks day and we fully intend to bring the house down again.

And if you ever need beer/wine on a Sunday night, read this.

Forget the Flemtones! Streams of Whiskey rocks!!!

I just hope Streams of Whiskey manage to stay on their feet longer than Shane did the last time I saw him front the Pogues. This was just a few years ago, during one of their St Patrick's Day shows in NYC. He was so bombed, every two or three songs he had to take a break and lie down backstage. Last year, I guess he finally figured out how to do an entire show without falling down drunk--he did the whole set while sitting in a wheelchair.

I don't know Streams Of Whiskey or even the Pogues.

The Fabulous Flemtones are always fun. At Tierney's every month.

But this Saturday May 17th,
LIL' BASTAD will be at Tierney's!

Retro babes on a motorcycle...they look like cathar's kind of women!

THE SKELS!!!

For a moment there, I thought it was a live gig by the Pogues for only $7. (That'd be some fairytale of the New York Metro area to tell around, yep.)

Oh well, you get drunk enough, it'll probably sound like the Pogues are playing there right beside you. But I think that the promised Irish rebel songs sound a bit tacky. There's too much blood promised there, and only the foolish will sing along to them.

Pork Roll, those may well be retro babes pictured, but I also get a distinctly "Well Of Loneliness"-type vibe from them, and I think the word "plums" proves my point. Still, only 7 bucks for a night of excess with Shane McGowan's poteen-soaked voice....

Well if ol' Shane could rise from his sick bed of Cu Chulainn at Tierney's, it would be great craic indeed. They could charge a buck for every tooth in Shane's gob, which would be... yeah, around 7 bucks.
I may check these fellas out, but if it turns into 7 old ladies got stuck in the lavatory, bottles will fly!

He still has teeth? Get out.

Tha Shane and Sinead duet Haunted was my wedding song.

What's with the plums?
