Talk Amongst Yourselves

My Mac has just crashed, and about 30 other things are going wrong today. While I'm busy getting my digital life in order, consider this your open thread.

So, did you hear about the fireworks at the Bloomfield BOE meeting this week?

Posted by VNC | May 15, 2008 11:10 AM

Fireworks at a Bloomfield BOE? that would be different than any other meeting how?

Posted by Cheese_with_your_wine? | May 15, 2008 11:15 AM

A GRAND round of applause to the Baristas for all of the great coverage work during the Montclair elections!!!! Thank you!

(P.S.....Deb....Your Glenridge booksigning was such an interesting event...how great that community center in the antique train is! How fortunate we are to have gorgeous public spaces like that to enjoy....also... how refreshing to be able to enjoy a day like the GR ecology fair....I loved it! Thanx for telling us)

how bout we lighten up things today and offer our best and/or funniest pick up lines.

I just heard one on the the radio - "is your Dad a terrorist cause you're the bomb" Ugh.

Why aren't the police enforcing the ban on talking on cell phones whilst driving? The scofflaws are just ignoring the law and there's never a cop around to pull 'em over. It would be a goldmine.

Paging Trooper Truth.

"You're under arrest for breaking my heart."

I found it amusing that some of the people working at the ECO fair were drinking out of styrofoam cups...

"I might not be the best looking guy in the bar but i'm the only one talking to you."...anther ugh.

Didn't know what? That Biden is an idiot? No, I've known that for a long time.

I think he plagiarized this line like he did in law school and during the '88 campaign.

But he is clean and articulate....

LOL, Prof...I liked them all except the booger one...Ew!

True story:
A guy came up to me and said "You look just like my third wife! And I've only been married twice."

Today's Montclair Times' bold headline:

"FRIED FINISHES FIRST"

This may be true in the high cholesterol sections of town.

In the vain and/or healthy sections of town, it should say "Baked and/or Steamed Finish First"

Does anyone else notice a terrible smell in NY Penn Station, right in front of Zaro's at the 7th Ave exit? I almost throw up every single morning.

Posted by brooksie | May 15, 2008 5:01 PM

Yup, I was in Penn Station about a month ago and almost keeled over in front of their establishment.

I'm glad to read that the new Montclair council is ready to start tackling the local issues that directly impact our lives here in town. (from this morning's Star-Ledger):

"It really is a mandate," Fried said. "It is a mandate that Montclair really needs activist, progressive government."

That is expected to mean Montclair's council will again take up resolutions such as the early 2004 vote under Mayor Bob Russo against the USA Patriot Act -- something Mayor Ed Remsen has been less inclined to do.

"Absolutely," Fried said of those issues coming before the governing body. "What isn't a local issue? Is global warning not a local issue?"

I used to notice the lovely smell of freshly baked bread in front of Zaro's but it's been a few years since I worked in the city.

Posted by Nellie | May 16, 2008 9:46 AM

Well, the smell is no longer freshly baked bread, but freshly burned... somethingorother. It's awful and perpetual.

Posted by brooksie | May 16, 2008 8:30 PM

Well, at least their coffee is decent. Also, around Halloween time, they have cakes in the shapes of little coffins.
