Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow announced today that Essex County detectives have taken down a narcotics and weapons operation as a result of the arrest of a West Orange man in his apartment on Friday morning.
Michael D. Wilson, 33, was arrested at his 125 Northfield Avenue apartment, by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and Newark Police Department as a result of an investigation that led police to the defendant's guns and drugs operation. Wilson was charged with 18 counts of weapons and narcotics offenses. He is currently being held in the Essex County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
According to Dow, after obtaining search warrants to Wilson's apartment and storage facility located in the basement, detectives discovered 7 guns – 2 AK 47 assault rifles and 5 handguns, more than 8 ounces of cocaine and approximately $200,000 in cash.
