C. Vivian Stringer Reception In Baristaville

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Sorry for the late notice, we just got word that the public is invited to attend tonight's reception for C. Vivian Stringer, head coach of Rutger's women's basketball team. She'll be honored by Steven Plofker and Bobbi Brown, hosts of the event at The Studio, 8 Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair, 5-7 pm.

Stringer will be signing copies of her best-selling autobiography, "Standing Tall: A Memoir of Tragedy and Triumph."

Write if you got work.

Conan, a reference to Bob & Ray's sign off? Don't forget to hang by your thumbs.

Looney, Annette made the correction, so my line doesn't make sense any more. The lead originally said "... we just got work that the public is invited to attend..."

But yes, I listened to Bob and Ray faithfully during my first incarnation as a New Yorker. Trevor Traffic was one of my faves. Then Imus came along and put them out of business, basically.

Oh, the irony of bringing up Imus. His addled brain has had it. I send my salutations to Madame Stringer via the information superhighway. Long may she reign as Queen of Class.

Coach Stringer rocks!

don't kid yourself...she tried to make money off of the imus incident. her basketball players i'm sure had worse things on their ipods than what imus spewed. Now, what he did by picking on the girls was totally out of line and indefensible. but vivian acting like some holier than thou judge was also a bit much....but not as bad as the Iman's insensitive stab at humor.

Coach Stringer has a great vision for New Jersey. One I'm very appreciative of, to have Rutger's woman basketball program a National Powerhouse for the best talent around the country to want to play basketball in New Jersey. She wants Rutger's to be that symbol of excellence. In fact, she's well on her way with a final four appearance in four years of coaching, which is amazing in any sports program, and recruiting 5 All American Basketball Players this year. She want's New Jersey to be recognized for athletics as well as the best state for diversity and excellence.
