Calling All North Willow Residents

Monday, June 30, 2008

As the manhunt for Kenneth Duckett continues, Montclair Police have asked us to pass on the following information. A reverse 911 call has gone out to Montclair residents from police who are seeking information from residents of North Willow street in Montclair. The call is asking residents of this street who may have found a dark colored T-shirt on their property or near the curb line to call the Montclair Police.

The system cannot isolate the calls to a specific street, so MPD is getting inundated with calls from residents as far away as Kenneth Road. The call is specific to North Willow residents and residents of that street who have information can contact Lt. James Carlucci at 973-509-4778.

I hope the MPD finds what it's looking for, and that they find Mr. Duckett.

Speaking of police activity: does anyone know why the GR and Bloomfield police were swarming last night on the blocks blocks just off Belleville Ave in GR? No, I didn't bother to call the GRPD myself. Just curious.

Hum...I live on N Willow and I have not heard a word or gotten any call from the police dept. Not to mention that the guy probably ran past me and everyone else that was walking home from the Midtown direct at the time! (I didn't see anything but maybe someone else did).

We live on North Willow Street and didn't get such a reverse 911 call. If the police are seeking information it would sure help if they asked the right people...

"No, I didn't bother to call the GRPD myself."

Are there actually people who call the Police Dept when they want to know what the sirens are all about? I've wondered a gizillion times what the sirens are all about. The idea of bothering someone at the Police Station with a curious call never dawned on me. Though I wouldn't doubt people are self-centered enough to do that.

(Rexem, I'm sure the police have been asking the "wrong" people until now-- thanks for the ideas-- I hope they are reading. Any thoughts on gas prices?)

mets, there were cops on foot looking into my backyard with flashlights. I don't think it would have been unjustified to call and ask whether there was a security concern on my block.

A little judgy there, eh??

I came home one night to find police cars all over my street, even blocking my driveway. Since it was a little unsettling, to say the least, I called the police to find out what was going on. Turns out it was a domestic dispute. I think it was perfectly plausible to ask why I couldn't get in my own driveway.

Prof,
My comment is not an idea - I am merely stating a fact. We did not get the reverse 911 call specifically intended for us and our neighbors, while the police are being inundated with calls from the wrong areas.

Kate: if there were cops on my property I absolutely would have called the police station to see what was up. I just meant as a general proposition do people call the police station to say "I just heard a police car zooming up Grove St. Could you tell me what it was all about." Anyone who would do that is selfish ass.

Those yentas should get a scanner so they can listen to the doom and gloom themselves.
