Cats Looking For Love

Monday, June 30, 2008

The John A. Bukowski Shelter for Animals is seeking homes for several cats who were victims of a house fire a few months back. After being forced from their home and housed in an unfamiliar environment at the shelter, these cats are understandably timid and confused. What they need is a quiet home with lots of love and attention. These cats are attractive with great markings and all are neutered/spayed and up-to-date on their shots. If you have experience working with shy cats and can offer a loving home to one (or more!) of these cats, contact the John A. Bukowski Shelter for Animals at 973-748-0194 or email here.

I once had a cat who'd been hit by a car (losing his tail in the accident) and then lived in a small cage at a vet's office for over 6 months. I named him Phantom because for the first month I had him, I only saw him as a grey shadow that shot from under one piece of furniture to another.

Once he got comfortable with me and came out of his shell, he was just the sweetest, most affectionate cat I've ever met. It was my privilege to know him and I miss him a lot.

I wish I could take one or more of these cats, and I hope they find a great home soon!

Is "timid and shy" all that's wrong with these cats? I have a friend intent on adopting a cat with some manner of feline disability - mental or physical, it doesn't seem to matter to him. I'm just not sure if personality defects qualify.

I wish you were similarly timid and shy when it comes to posting your notoriously ailurophobic posts, walleroo.

(Hissssss.....)

I like cats. Very much. I like them grilled, poached, roasted and stewed.

In China, walleroo, they supposedly agree with your culinary drift.

PAWS also has a handful of fire cats left for adoption too. 2 are super friendly, and one is shy, but you can pet her once you catch her!

Come and meet them!

Ash and Singe are available for adoption at HAAL (Dodd Street in Bloomfield). Both gals are quite sweet.

Two of HAAL's fire cats had litters within weeks of arriving. The kittens are beautiful!

We hope all of the cats who were victims of that fire find wonderful, loving and responsible new homes. They've been through too much and deserve some good in their lives. All they'll need is some patience, understanding and TLC. An extremely small price to pay for unconditional love!

PAWS has adopted out the majority of the fire cats they took in. We also had 2 litters born shortly after the fire. All have been adopted. One passed away sadly. The one cat Sandy has chronic sneezing/runny eyes, had a lot of smoke inhalation. All of these wonderful babies need a home

PAWS currently has many cats and kittens looking for homes. The shelter is very crowded.

Bukowski is also bursting at the seams. They don't call it "kitten season" for nothing! My wish is for all animals in every rescue to find loving responsible homes. Here's hoping.
