This weekend there are two MoveOn.org bake sales to raise money for Barack Obama. Mine is at noon, at 11 Godfrey Road in Upper Montclair (Godfrey road is just below the bottom of Anderson Park) The other one is at Orange Rd. and Washington St at 11:45, at the South End, across from the Hardware Store and next to the Bank.
Both bake sales will feature succulent, delicious, savory and irresistible homebaked goods. If you love homemade gingerbread and lemon tea cake, but are not planning to vote for Barack Obama and therefore feel maddened by inner conflict, don't despair. I'm planning to have a jar for donations to PAWS, Montclair's animal shelter. So you can have your cake and pay for it too.
I can share a few more details, such as a.) I'll be playing some of my great mix tapes, featuring everyone from Franco Corelli singing Puccini to a pretty good Neil Diamond impersonator singing Red, Red Wine.
b.) I plan to hang party lights in the Linden trees and
c.) I'm going to invite children to fill little cups with potting soil and flower seeds in a gesture symbolic of planting the seeds of Democracy.
I like your politics!
