Here Comes the Bride

Sunday, June 29, 2008

The Baristanet crew sends out its heartiest best wishes to Miss Martta Rose, who becomes a married woman today, with former Glen Ridge Mayor Carl Bergmanson officiating. Please send us a picture, so we can replace this Facebook picture with a stunning shot of the lady in white!

Starting here, starting now, she's Mrs. Martta.

All happiness is of course wished to the lady and the lucky guy. Long may they share joy together. Makes me want to whip them up an epithalamion.

But is that in fact Miss Martta in the photo?

MM-

Congratulations, my fellow dog lover and WO resident! Now that it's official, when can we expect the stork to drop a quadruped into your home?

Hope to run into you again soon!

Lovely photo.

One of the most amazing things is that we had no rain. (OK, it sprinkled for about 10 minutes but way after the ceremony!) This after checking weather.com for a week and having it say 60% chance of T-storms. Amazing.

MM - may you be blessed with many happy years together. Congratulations and best wishes!

Congratulations! Are those lovely sunflowers from your garden?

All the best to you both--great picture. Inquiring Spouse and I recently celebrated our 19th anniversary, (more amazing to me than anyone else!)--I offer our keys to a long and happy marriage:

1. Inquiring Spouse is required to make me laugh at least once a day. At him, or with him, doesn't matter.

2. We both have to want a divorce at the same time--so far, that hasn't happened.

3. A good cleaning service.

4. Basic civility, including "please" and "thank you" go a long way.

Many years of happiness to you.

Congratulations Miss Martta and Mayor Bergmanson. Best wishes.

Thanks, everyone. I WISH those sunflowers were from my garden. No, (gratuitous plug coming up), they were provided by Accents with Flowers on Church Street in Montclair. GREAT store!

I do have a sunflower-in-training in my garden. If the deer stop eating the buds, it might be as beautiful some day.

Thank you for sharing the photo. Much happiness to you!

Posted by Nellie | June 30, 2008 10:35 AM

Lasermike, I don't think she married Mayor Bergmanson. I think he officiated at the ceremony.

Posted by Nellie | June 30, 2008 10:37 AM

LOL, yes, that's right! I don't think Mrs. Bergmanson would appreciate that very much! :-)

Posted by Mrs. Martta | June 30, 2008 10:38 AM

That's how rumors get started. LOL

Posted by Nellie | June 30, 2008 10:43 AM

Whoops, sorry. Who is the lucky groom?

Posted by lasermike026 | June 30, 2008 10:46 AM

His name is Tom.

Posted by Mrs. Martta | June 30, 2008 10:49 AM

omg......that's wild: until now, I thought hizonor was the groom LOL. I guess I missed the word 'officiating'...

Me too.

Martta, you're a worldly woman who probably has everything so that likely makes gift-giving hard. So, here's a simple little gift.

What a beautiful bride and a handsome groom. I'm very happy for you two, and I send my very best wishes. Perhaps the next Baristanet wedding could actually be performed online?

WONDERFUL! Best wishes for a happy union!

He looks like her father! Is this how they breed over here in the Garden State! I see a child with eight limbs...if he can keep it up long enough! Hahahahahahaha

LL: You should be so lucky. And you should have the good fortune to be as able-bodied as he is when you're his age--or any age for that matter. I challenge you to race him in a 5K any day!

Posted by Mrs. Martta | June 30, 2008 9:33 PM

I bet I could out drink that Great White!!! Then I will race him down the street with his wife raised above my head!

"I bet I could out drink that Great White!!!"

Based on your posts, I won't argue with you there!

It was a beautiful wedding AND I caught Mrs. Martta's lovely sunflower bouquet! I'm an avid reader of Baristanet, but not much of a poster kinda gal, but couldn't resist in the celebration!

You go, Girl!

I enjoy reading Baristnet on a daily basis, but haven't been much at posting my comments, perspectives, etc., but Martta's wedding is definitely an exception! It was a wonderful day! Congratulations to Martta & Tom!

Posted by Joy | June 30, 2008 10:05 PM

Thanks, Joy.

Interesting thing about the weather. As I mentioned earlier, I checked weather.com and other sources all week long and they all pretty much said the same thing for Sunday, June 29: 50-60% chance of T-storms, violent ones in some places. Upsetting to say the least.

The day before, however, I heard a commotion at the house next door. They have two small, yappy dogs but this day, they were yappier than usual. I went outside to investigate and I saw a black Lab that I did not recognize (I pretty much know all the neighborhood dogs) "chatting up" the other dogs. He was unleashed but friendly. He ran through my yard, investigating things, scratched around a bit in my garden a bit, took a pee on my forsynthia bush, and then came over to me for a pat on the head. I went inside to get him a biscuit but by the time I came back out, he was gone, sadly.

Then it hit me. Have you heard of "familiars?" Familiars, in folklore, are spirits that take on the shapes of animals (they can be good or bad spirits). I am 100% convinced that this Lab was a "familiar" since he brought me good luck on my wedding day.

The night of my wedding, we turned on the news and it was reported that areas a stone's throw away from us (Belleville, Newark) DID get violent weather. But we were spared.

ahhh...the Lab Gods smiled upon thee.

What a great surprise to read this at an unseemly hour! Mrs. Martta, I have enjoyed your many posts.

Best wishes for a long and happy marriage! Great photo.

Mrs. Martta,

That dog was sent there to tell you that you need to adopt your new lab from a rescue group or shelter.
