Looking For Oreo

Monday, June 9, 2008

A reader writes...

"Hi, I would like to reach out to the Montclair community. My cat went missing earlier this morning. She is all black except for a little white. Her name is Oreo. She about 3 years old she is on the smaller side. She has been missing since earlier this morning sometime between 4am -11:30am. I live in the Hawthorne, Elm St and Gates Area. If anyone lives in this area, Please be on the look out for her. She may be hiding due to the heat. If anyone has seen her or knows where she is please email me at Hermanr@gmail.com. Our family missing her greatly.

Thank you,
Rachel

don't forget to look in your neighbors' garages. that's where ours end up.

Also, check with PAWS at 746-5212 to see if she is there. It would be a good idea to post flyers with her picture.

check the cat park in Brookdale. Oh wait, cats are allowed to wander around town without leashes. Hmm

Hey barista's - the Watercooler and UnMod both have the picture of OREO.

You can pick it up from the photos area of the Wastercooler at:

very funny jimmy. wait until your grandmother wanders off!

jimmytown--you make it sound like the cats don't want a park of their own. apparently the cost to carpet it and furnish with sofas is prohibitive.

Considering the heat, maybe it wondered off to one of the local pools....That's where i would check

cats are smarter than that- more likely to a house with central air.

It's awful when a pet is missing. Don't make jokes, folks!

Same here, sub-urban, it's a garage every time. They can wander in when a door is left is open and get stuck in when the door goes down.

What makes it tough is that they don't always respond to their name (even if you're right there at the door) so you'll have to actually GO IN the garage and take a peek.

(Can you tell this has happened to me before?)

I hope Oreo comes home soon, please keep us posted!

I have 3 indoor cats (don't ask) and the MANY times they have run out an open door they never leave the property - check bushes and underneath porches/porch steps right by your house.

That people use the issue of a missing cat as an excuse for which to make shabby attempts at "wit" is saddening. Cats transcend such stuff, whereas politics and local foibles (such as the coddling of schoolchildren during these days of high temperatures) do not.

As a cat lover, I merely hope Oreo is found soon. Healthy and a bit chastened, even. And hungry and appreciative for what he has, too.

I hope you find Oreo.

Put some milk out. Nothing can keep an oreo away from milk!

Poor Oreo. I hope she finds her way home soon.

My neighbor across the street lost her declawed, non-collar-wearing cat a couple of weeks ago. She returned after about 6 days looking none the worse for wear.

Hoping for a similar outcome for you and your kitty! As others have said, I'd bet she's hiding out nearby.

Oreo has been found. It's on the Watercooler!
