Film lovers take note: Montclair may just be the next Sundance. 40 indie films from all over the world will be screened next week from Wednesday June 11 through Sunday June 15, during the fusion-themed Parabox Montclair International Film Festival.
Besides the usual short, there are feature films on the program including “The Indian” starring Matt Dallas (TV’s “Kyle XY”) and “The Objective” produced by Montclair resident Zev Guber and directed by Daniel Myrick (The Blair Witch Project). Montclair Producers Jonathan and Zara Phillips also won a spot in the lineup for their film "Roots: Unknown," an award-winning documentary on the life-long impact of adoption. Roots can be seen at LUNA STAGE, 695 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, next week, June 12, 13, and 15.
Rob Moretti, festival founder, has created a true “fusion” festival this year with movies, music and art. The music will be hosted at Trumpets, and the art exhibition will be at Luna featuring dozens of movie posters from the 1930’s to present. The theme of the festival is a throwback to the great cinema of yesteryear. Screenings take place at three locales - Luna, Montclair Public Library main branch, and the Claridge Cinema.
