Fatal House Fire In Nutley

We've learned that a woman perished this morning in a fire at 5:30 a.m. at 276 Harrison Street in Nutley. Nutley firefighters and police responded to the scene as did the Essex County Prosecutor’s Arson Task Force, who confirms that a female victim, in her mid thirties, who was discovered on the second floor of the two-family home. The victim has not been identified pending autopsy results. The fire was contained to the second floor of the structure. The investigation is continuing.

This may sound odd, but I find the use of the verb "to perish" in this context particularly poignant. Life is indeed far too perishable, especially for one so young.
